Remove eight bolts and two skid shoes and bottom sheave plate. Replace in reverse order.

Shear Bolt and Nut

The shear bolt assembly includes one shear bolt and one nut. This shear bolt assembly is OEM guaranteed and designed to exact specification for your equipment. This part has the important job of protecting the snow blower in the event that it hits a hard object, in which case the shear pin will break, and this prevents the auger gearcase from getting damaged. If this happens, it must be replaced before your snowblower is able to operate again. The auger will not turn if the shear pin is broken. Before beginning this repair, make sure the start key has been removed from the engine. Then you will need to remove whatever is left of the damaged shear bolt. Install your new part by first aligning the holes in the rake assembly with the holes in the gear case. Insert the bolt, tap it into place and then secure it with the nut.

This is an individually sold OEM shear bolt for a snow blower (sometimes called a shear pin). We advise having a few extra of these on hand in case it breaks. The purpose of the shear bolt is to protect the snowblower in the event that the auger gets jammed or clogged, preventing the transmission and engine from getting damaged. It is designed to break at a specific point of pressure, and when it does snap, it will need to be replaced to get your unit back up and running again.

This greased bearing is used on lawn and gardening tools and is sold individually. This part works to reduce friction between rotating parts. This happens when the balls receive the load and spin, which spreads the weight equally whilst the minimal contact area of the part reduces the friction. It is important to repeatedly check for bearings and replace them periodically as they experience constant wear when in operation from pressure, vibration, and heat. For this repair you will need a screwdriver and a set of wrenches. Remember to unplug or turn off power tool before starting this installation project.
