One of the 2 Nut Power nylon screws failed
The "smasher" got jammed sideways when this part failed on one side. Could not open the front door. Had to pull the whole unit out, take to garage and repair. Start by taking bottom panel off. This gives you access to the chain drive. Put on some leather gloves and turn chain CCW until "smasher unit comes loose. Pull out of top of unit (other panels need to be removed and front control panel must be removed also). Now replace both nylon "NUT POWER ASM" parts. If you are handy, you can do this repair easily and save yourself $$$

Trash Compactor would not stop after cycle and would make a ton of noise
I had a couple of problems with my trash compactor, it was present in the home when we bought it. First it wouldn't turn on, the on/off switch was broken so I replaced the switch and knob assembly. Then the unit would run through a cycle and wouldn't stop at the end and would make a loud banging noise. My directional switch was the suspect at first because it was in bad shape to begin with, looked like it had gotten stuck at some point and bent the arm. I replaced the directional switch and it didn't help. Then I realized that the on/off/start panel showed that the start button was stuck in the on position. This was delivering constant current and wouldn't allow the unit to stop. DON'T spend $150 for a new start/on/off panel. I took the panel off and separated the front from the back to expose the buttons from the inside. The start button was stuck so I took the parts out and reassembled them, they're all little plastic and metal pieces that interlink. After I reassembled the buttons' insides I reassembled the panel and reinstalled it. The unit works fine now.

Ran out of compactor bags
I put in a new bag. Honestly guys, filling out this questionnaire took more time than replacing a bag, something we do every week. I know that you mean well, but perhaps you should try to differentiate between disposable items and true repair parts.

Trash Compactor the drawer was very hard to open
In replacing the old partial rusted drawer slides had rusted screw with nuts that spun had to drill them out and replaced front larger bolt and nut the rear screw used a larger sheet metal screw. The wheels and bearing with on easy the instructions showed a modification to remove a tab for the different wheel assembly and installed just like the instructions. When done the drawer will slide out with just touch of your foot on open tab GREAT!! I was looking at buying a new compactor the repair saved me about 700 $. Thanks a lot. Never had a trash Compactor before this great and it keeps my puppy out of trash.
