This genuine OEM part is a motor brush for your stand mixer. The brush is sold individually, however, there are two motor brushes on your mixer, and we recommend replacing both at the same time, as they tend to wear out at the same rate. A sign that you may need to replace the brushes is if your mixer is running slowly. A flat blade screwdriver is needed to remove the brush cover in order to replace this part.

Internal Worm Gear to Electric Motor Stripped
After looking at your sites great exploded views I was able to disassemble the motor assembly. Replaced the brushes and damaged gear assembly . Reassembled Worked great.Wife's china made mixer had diecast internal parts that shattered after her attempt to mix cookie dough. Now with this USA made Kitchen Aid Mixer she can mix concrete with coke bottles and never work hard. Thank You for you great site and delivery ethic. Only wish my Hitachi ex50urg excavator had a parts exploded views as you do. Also Worm gear and bracket had improvements to redirect lube grease to keep improved gear material well lubricated. This flat beater is used on stand mixers. It is dishwasher safe, however, should only be washed in the upper rack. The Flat Beater is used to mix batters and light doughs. Should the coating become damaged the beater will become a dull and gray. This part should be replaced when the coating has been damaged.
