This suspension spring is a genuine OEM replacement part for a variety of washers and washer-dryer combos. The primary purpose of the suspension spring is to support the outer tub and keep the tub steady during loads that could cause an unbalance. If this part breaks, is worn down, or has stretched out and lost its spring, it could cause the load to be off-balance which can lead to excessive shaking, moving, noise, and leaks. This part is approximately 2 inches in length when compressed, made of durable metal, and is sold individually. For this repair, you will need a 1/4 nut driver, putty knife, flat blade screwdriver, and a pair of needle-nose pliers. Before you begin, disconnect the power, fill hoses, and drain hose to give you easy and safe access (drain hose may release some water, have a small container or towel near by). Your appliance contains 3 suspension springs, so keep this in mind if you need to order multiple of this part. We suggest you purchase several at a time, as they can be very useful to have on-hand.

This is an OEM direct drive motor coupling, which provides a cushioned connection between the transmission and the motor shaft. This is the newer version of this part, made with new metal sleeves for added strength. It is located between the motor and transmission on direct drive washers with no belt. If the drive system seizes, the coupling is designed to break to prevent the drive motor from damage. Consequently, this part may need to be replaced as your appliance ages. Never overload your washer, as this can speed up its deterioration. Symptoms of a faulty motor coupling include a washer pumping but not spinning, slow spinning, the washer not agitating, and unusual noises. This coupling kit contains all the parts necessary to replace your existing direct drive motor coupling. Please note, that after replacing the motor coupling your washer may smell like burning rubber for the first few uses, this is entirely normal as the part becomes acclimated to the machine. Each is sold individually.

Washer would not spin or agitate
First, I found it very easy to follow the help on your web site to determine the most likely parts that would cause my problems. The direct drive motor coupling could be the cause of both problems. Also the agitator repair kit was the most likely cause of the agitator problem, So, I ordered both parts. When AI received the parts there were videos included instructing every detail for installation. This is a genuine OEM replacement clutch assembly for your washing machine. A clutch assembly, also known as a clutch or a washer clutch, is responsible for spinning the tub during the spin cycle. If the clutch becomes worn and is no longer operating properly, your clothes will remain soaked after the cycle is finished. On the lid on your washing machine there is a pin that engages with the lid switch. This works by telling the machine that the lid is closed which then allows for the washer to start. If your washer is not starting, or does not advance through the different cycles, there may be a problem with your lid switch. This part can wear out or become damaged over time and will need to be replaced so your machine can operate. Replacing this genuine OEM part is an easy job that requires the use of a Philips screwdriver along with a 5/16-inch nut driver. You will need to disconnect the power to your washer before beginning this repair and pull the machine away from the wall so you can easily access the back panel. Since the lid switch is found underneath the control panel, you will need to unscrew and lift the panel back to gain access. In order to remove the old switch, you first disconnect the wire harness, and remove the screw holding the grounding wire in place. The lid of the washer needs to be lifted, as the pin will be engaged with the switch if the lid is in the closed position. With the lid still open, the new switch can be put in place, install the screw for the grounding wire, and reattached the wire harness. The control panel can then be lowered back down, ensuring the locking tabs are engaged.

Washer was leaking a little. A very small puddle formed underneath and to the left of the machine.
The installation video was sensational and invaluable. I watched it all the way through and then took it step by step as I repaired the machine. I ordered the water pump and the gasket at the same time, not knowing which part would solve the problem. The water pump was the easiest to replace so I replaced that, put the machine back together--only to discover that the leak prevailed. I disassembled the machine again to replace the gasket. I cued up the video and follwed every step. I didn't have a spanner wrench so I had to wait for it to arrive. No hardware store or bib-box store carries this wrench. The hardest part of the whole job was removing that nut from the agitator. The spanner wrench fit perfectly but despite a lot of pounding combined with a lot of lubricant and dissolvant, it wouldn't budge. After 20 years, that nut was really on there. I went to an automotive store and asked for their best-performing lubricant. They recommended PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst over any of the others, and wow, were they right! I lined the tub with paper towels for protection, sprayed a lot of PB Blaster on the nut, came back in 15 minutes and that nut came right off. It was unbelievable, and I was ecstatic. From there I relied on the video, took my time, cleaned the tub and everything else (which was filthy with tons of pet hair caked on!) put it all back together, hoped for the best, ran a load and was absolutely thrilled that there was no leaking! A really good project and a lot of money saved. I could never have done it and would not have attempted it without that superb installation video. Read more...
