The defrost timer works on a predetermined schedule, to alternate between the cooling cycle and the defrost heater in your freezer. When the heating circuit is activated, it melts any ice that has formed on the evaporator coils, then the cooling system is started again. If ice builds up the evaporator, it reduces the airflow and the efficiency of your freezer. If the defrost timer has failed, it can cause the temperature in your fridge or freezer to get too warm, or it can cause ice buildup since the heating circuit will not be activated. You can test this part with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. If you need to replace this part, this is a genuine OEM replacement defrost timer. It measures approximately 3 inches long and 2.5 inches wide and is 60Hz and 120V.

This board will need to be programmed upon installation. The electronic control board is used in refrigerators to monitor and manage the temperature settings, such as cooling or defrosting times. If your fridge or freezer is too warm, too cold, is not defrosting, will not start, and/or runs too long then replacing the control board could solve your appliance problem.
