This secondary door switch is also known as a micro switch, and it is a genuine OEM replacement part for your microwave. The switch communicates with the electronic control board, to let it know if the microwave door is open or closed. The purpose of this is so that your microwave does not operate while the door is open. When the door is shut, the switch closes and the circuit completes allowing the appliance to operate. If the switch is faulty, it may result in your microwave not working properly when the door is closed, or it may run when the door is opened, neither situation is ideal and the switch should be replaced. Use extreme caution when replacing this part, as the capacitor is able to store large amounts of electricity even when the microwave is unplugged. Be sure to discharge the capacitor first, or if you are not comfortable completing the repair yourself, please call a service technician.

This is a genuine OEM replacement switch for the door of your microwave. When the door is closed and the switch depressed, it allows the microwave to run and the turntable to rotate. When the door opens, the switch cuts the power. If your microwave continues to run with the door open, there is an issue with the door switch. Other signs the switch may have failed is if the microwave will not heat or the turntable is not rotating.
