When you are installing this replacement part you will need to reuse the original mounting bracket, and you will need a screwdriver. As current flows through the ignition circuit the ignitor heads up and begins to glow, the warmer it gets the more current it draws. When the ignitor reaches a certain temperature the safety valve opens and allows gas to flow, the hot ignitor then lights that gas. This oven igniter is the inches in length, it features a short ceramic body, and comes with the wire connector. It does not come with the mounting bracket. Do not touch the black element, it is extremely fragile. You will need a 1/4-inch nut driver and a flat head screwdriver to successfully install this replacement part. Before you begin the repair make sure you have unplugged the appliance and shutoff the gas supply.
