This is a genuine OEM replacement gasket for your dishwasher, that measures approximately 22 inches long and is made of plastic. It is found at the bottom of the inside panel of your dishwasher door. The purpose of the gasket it to provide a tight seal at the bottom of the dishwasher so that water does not leak out while the appliance is operating. If your dishwasher is leaking, you should inspect the gasket for signs of damage and replace it if worn out. Please note that gaskets for sealing around the tub are sold separately. Basic tools are needed for this repair, including a pair of pliers to help with removal of the old gasket. Depending on your model, you may need to remove door panels to access the gasket which would require a Philips screwdriver.

If your dishwasher is leaking water while it is running, there may be an issue with the gasket. Also known as a door gasket, the tub gasket creates a watertight seal between the tub of the dishwasher and the door. This prevents any water from leaking out while the machine is running. If the gasket has become loose, it can be reinserted, however if it is damaged, it will need to be replaced. This is a simple repair that does not require any tools, but you may find needle nose pliers helpful for removing the old gasket. Pull the old gasket out of the groove, and replace with the new one, pressing it into the groove. This part has been sourced from the original manufacturer and is made of black rubber.

The gasket insert is connected to the gasket in the bottom of your dishwasher door. It is a small piece of white plastic that measures approximately 4 inches by 1 inch, and is sold individually. The gasket insert helps the gasket create a seal on the door, so water doesn’t leak out when the dishwasher is running. If your dishwasher is leaking, check to see if the gasket insert is damaged. If the insert is damaged, you will need to replace it. The problem may be with the gasket itself, in which case you may need to replace that part as well.
