ADE20L2H Admiral Dryer - Instructions

I drilled two holers in the side of the cabinet 1 inch apart. I put them at the same height as the tensioner spring. I put the string through 1 hole and around the tensioner. I pulled the string through the other hole and had my son hold the tensioner back while I reached in and lined up the belt on the tensioner while my son let out the string slowly.

Turn off power. Move dryer away from wall and release the top by lifting up to release the two clips. Lay top against the wall. Remove the two screws, one in each corner, left and right inside the cabinet. Lift front panel up and out away from dryer. Place along right side of dryer. You may need to unlatch the wiring for the door switch. Reach inside the bottom of dryer and release the belt. Lift the dryer drum out along with the belt. Observe the two guide rollers that the drum rides on. Using a blade screw driver release the clips that hold the rollers onto the spindles. Clean up around each spindle. Install new rollers in reverse order and put all back together. The hardest part is reinstalling the belt. Put belt around the drum, around the motor pulley and then onto the tension roller. Identified the rollers as the root cause of the drum not freely rotating. They also squeaked a little at the beginning of any cycle. I replaced the rear rollers and shafts using the parts from the roller replacement kit. Easy to do. The hardest parts was re-installing the belt.

I had to open the top of the dryer which was different for me. All of the dryers I've ever owned have had a panel on the back to remove. Fairly difficult to get to the fuse itself. I had to remove the heating element and use pliers to take the connectors off the leads. It worked for a few days and is back down again. I hope I didn't damage the element while taking it out but, luckily, I have a spare dryer so I haven't had a chance to look at it again yet.

Replaced thermal fuse actually fixed the problem, but also replaced the heating element since you have to remove it to get to the fuse. Just remove the top and parts are accessed in the rear 3 screws.

Basically I started off using youtube to see how to install. Two things to be sure you do – one the plastic washer only goes on one side (read the instructions)of the shaft and two the support brackets are not threaded so you need to use the original self-tapping screws. The screws that come with it will not work. Best to use a socket set to install the screws.

Disconnected dryer main power supply from wall socket. Opened dryer top,Thermal Fuse is mounted on the Heating Element support bracket on the upper left hand side of the back wall of the dryer. Disconnected wires from damaged Thermal Fuse. Removed hex bolt securing Thermal Fuse Bracket with a nut driver for easier access. Pull up on Thermal Fuse support bracket and remove. When reinstalling Thermal Fuse bracket be sure and line up securing clips with the slots on the Heating Element bracket. Once these are alinged push down until Thermal Fuse Bracket is secure and proceed installing the hex bolt to finish installation. Reconnect both wires and dryer should be ready for operation.

i checked the power cord to be sure it was plugged in properly. i checked the thermal fuse in the front. i checked the thermostat fuse. i checked the heater element circuit and found infinite ohms. i checked kept the front cover up and watched that the heating element never came on. that confirmed my decision to buy the heating element. i installed a new one along with the thermostat that came in the kit. problem solved! my dryer is working again and everyone is happy again.

Removed 3 screws and replaced the element and thermostate. No high priced repairman needed.Thanks

Followed the instructions in the video and it was SO easy! Now my dryer works great!

This repair was so easy. All you need is a 1/4 inch nut driver or straight socket, a pair of needle nose pliers & a flat screwdriver,file or anything flat to pop the top of the dryer open. There are 4 wires to remove and 4 nuts. take the old parts out and replace with the new and replace the wires. Hardest part for me was making sure I didn't drop the nuts.I recommend watching the video. My dryer is working great.

It wasnt to bad,its way easy for people with small hands its a tight fit for larger hands that was my only problem.After putting the dryer back in service it still did not heat correctly so I pulled the lint catcher out and the vent hose off the back and blew it out with an air compressor my God what a mess it was plugged bad should have had a fire so please look at doing the same with yours if its an older dryer.

I watched a part select youtube video on possible fixes for the problem I was having. Ten minutes and two videos later I had the part out and identified as the problem. I ordered the part ($42.00) which arrived four days later. Spent ten minutes replacing it in machine, turned dryer on and went right back to performing the way it has for the last 12 years.
