The cord that connects the door to a sprink broke.
Once the cord broke, the stainless steel door became very heavy (eventhough the other side cord/spring combo was intact). My order came within days. The repair kit came with two complete sets (left and right sides). The repair was simple. I used the unbroken side as a guide to fix the broken side. I used all parts from the kit. The part of the repair that required time was to disconnect the electric, plumbing and drain lines. In order to pull the diswasher from the cabinet. Just remember to turn the water back on when you are finished!

Door counterbalance cable broken
Remove two screws on retainer clips holding dishwasher to counter and pulled out dishwasher. Slide new nylon cord mounting clip into slot where old part is located, rethread the cord around pulleys and attach end to spring. Need pliers to pull and stretch spring. This was the hardest part of the job but not very difficult. Push dishwasher back into counter and replace the two screws into the hold down clips under counter top. Whole job took 20 minutes.

One side of the door spring link was broken.
I've had to do this repair at least twice before over the last few years so I stand by my original assertion that the door "balance link kit" reflects very poor design. Well, maybe the design would be okay if the materials were not prone to breakage. However, a simpler spring-only mechanism would have been more reliable. The current design uses string embedded in plastic that latches to a hook area for both sides of the door (frame). The string is threaded around a hub and then to a spring that is in turn connected to the chassis at a rather distant point which also adds to the difficulty due to requiring greater access to the dishwasher sides. It would be much better if the repair could be done without necessitating removal of the entire unit from the cabinet cavity first. I noted that this time around there's been a redesign so that the hub is no longer a round fixed knob but now includes a rotatable wheel. So perhaps there'll now be less wear on the strings that with the prior design! -- D.A.D

One side of the door balance link broke.
One side of the door balancer broke. I pulled out the dishwasher and made a really strong one out of wire rope and clamps. 2 weeks later it broke again, so I ordered the link kit. I received it in a couple of days. But when I pulled out the dishwasher to replace my broken part I discovered that the original part on the other side broke. I put one of the new parts on the broken side and left my part on the other. I want to see which one lasts the longest.

broken link - plastic piece attached to string
The repair packet contained 2 links with new pulley plastic pieces. It said to replace all of the parts. I could see that the old plastic pulley part only used 1 pulley. They had re-engineered to add a second pulley.
Changed out parts with no issues.

Door Balance Link Kit
Disconnect the water and power supply to the unit. Remove the kick plate with a screwdriver and pull the unit from under the counter far enough to expose both door lift springs. With the door closed and locked release the tenson on the spring and remove the cable latch from the spring. One of mine was broke so this only had to be done on one side. With a 5/16 nut driver remove the bolt that holds the guide pullys in place. This is where I learned the problem from the original instulation. There are three screw holes to adjust the amount of tension on the cable. Mine was set with the most tension which is what caused the cable to break. I installed the new cables in the reverse order from above with the least amount of tension. It still supports the door but with less strain on the spring and cables. Good Luck

Broken balance link cord...
Simple repair, detached 2 top screws and slid unit out far enough to access the rear springs, removed old balance kit and installed new. The replacement parts appear to have corrected some deficiencies in the OEM version and the instructional video made changeover easy. As an extra bonus, annoying long-term door squeak is history.
