How to Fix a Lid Actuator for a Washer That Has Locking Issues

The lid actuator is a part of the lid switch assembly that keeps your washer locked. It is vulnerable to damage from excessive force when opening and closing your washer or from regular use over an extended period. You can check to see if the actuator is damaged by closing the lid of your washing machine and seeing if the lid engages.

What is a Lid Actuator?

The lid switch actuator presses down on the lid switch when you close the washer lid. It activates the lid switch, which tells the washer that the lid is either closed so that the wash cycle can begin, or open so that it can stop the cycle. If the lid switch actuator is defective or damaged, it can prevent your washer from locking or unlocking, as your washer cannot determine whether it is safe to start a cycle.

How to Access and Remove the Lid Actuator

How to Install a New Lid Actuator
