Front Load Washer Door Lock and Switch Assembly
★★★★★

Fix Number FIX12364048
Manufacturer Part Number 131763256
This door lock and switch assembly is an authentic OEM replacement part for your front load washing machine. The lock is used to prevent the door from opening while the machine is running, and the switch indicates that the door is closed, allowing the washer to begin its wash cycle. Attempting to open the washer door while it is still locked can cause damage to these parts. If your washer door will not open, close, or lock, you may need to replace the lock and switch. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your washer before beginning this repair.

Washer Lid Switch

Fix Number FIX11745957
Manufacturer Part Number WP8318084
On the lid on your washing machine there is a pin that engages with the lid switch. This works by telling the machine that the lid is closed which then allows for the washer to start. If your washer is not starting, or does not advance through the different cycles, there may be a problem with your lid switch. This part can wear out or become damaged over time and will need to be replaced so your machine can operate. Replacing this genuine OEM part is an easy job that requires the use of a Philips screwdriver along with a 5/16-inch nut driver. You will need to disconnect the power to your washer before beginning this repair and pull the machine away from the wall so you can easily access the back panel. Since the lid switch is found underneath the control panel, you will need to unscrew and lift the panel back to gain access. In order to remove the old switch, you first disconnect the wire harness, and remove the screw holding the grounding wire in place. The lid of the washer needs to be lifted, as the pin will be engaged with the switch if the lid is in the closed position. With the lid still open, the new switch can be put in place, install the screw for the grounding wire, and reattached the wire harness. The control panel can then be lowered back down, ensuring the locking tabs are engaged.

Lid Switch

Fix Number FIX11722098
Manufacturer Part Number 3949247V
The lid switch is a part of the washing machine that is found mounted to the underside of the cabinet top panel. This genuine OEM part is also known as a washer lid switch, a lid switch assembly, or a lid switch assembly with leads. The purpose of this switch is to inform the washer when the lid is closed, so that it can start the wash cycle. If the switch is not functioning properly, it can result in the washer not starting, it not advancing through the cycles, the tub not draining, or it pumping but not spinning. The plastic can become brittle with time, so aggressive movements like slamming the washer lid, or the vibrating of an unbalanced load, can cause the lid switch to break. If you are experiencing these problems, you can use a multimeter to check the lid switch for continuity.

This part is located behind the control panel. It helps determine the level of water in the washer. As the water fills the hose, while tub is filling, it will push the air against a diaphragm inside the switch. More water that enters the tub, more pressure is applied against the switch.

When the lid switch on your washer is activated, it sends a signal that the lid is shut and that the machine can operate through the wash cycles. If your washer will not start, drain, agitate, or spin, there may be an issue with the lid switch assembly. You can use a multimeter to check the switch for continuity to determine if it is defective or not.
