Installation Instructions

Light switch no longer worked
Turn off and unplug your refrigerator. I used the screwdriver on the left side of the part (where the plug is) and used the putty knife at the same time on the right side to push the spring lock portion of the part in. The part snapped out. I unplugged the left contact from the plug and put it on the new part, then I unplugged the right contact and put it on the new part. I did this so the wires would not go up into the refrigerator and be hard to find. I put the left side of the new part where the plug and contacts are in first then I snapped the right side in place. I plugged the refrigerator back in and it worked perfectly. Just take your time and gently remove and reconnect the new part. The store where I bought my refrigerator wanted $69.95 for a service call plus an hourly charge and part charge. Count on this site for your parts and do it yourself. I ordered the part on Monday, it was delivered on Tuesday around noon and I made the repair that afternoon. Read more...

Water was leaking from the ice maker into the bucket below, forming one large block of ice.
After emptying the freezer and unplugging the refrigerator, I took out the old ice maker by removing the three nuts that held it to the side of the freezer, disconnected the plug and slid the unit out. Installed the new ice maker by attaching the power plug, sliding the unit over the water inlet and then attaching the unit to the freezer with the three nuts. Plugged the refrigerator back in and I now have ice cubes. Took two hours including emptying and reloading the freezer with my other refrigerator in the basement. Read more...

Very noisy whenever the fan came on.
Watched several online videos. Removed the fan blade, then the motor still attached to the motor mount so I could see what I was doing to attach the new motor to the motor mount. Then reinstalled the whole assembly, plugged in it's wires with the supplied adapter and attached the new fan blade. Read more...

No ice
Board diagnostics stop at Cir pump. Replaced circulation pump. Made half of one cycle of ice. Stopped. Replaced control board. Problem solved. But, set thermosensor too low on bin wall. Made one cycle of ice and stopped. Set thermosensor higher on bin wall, just above the front threshold of the bin, now all is working great. Control circuit board swap was easy except for the 2 rear screws that hold the control panel case to the bin. The holes for these screws are not visible without a mirror and are tricky to start. Light went out in my 24 year old Whirlpool refrigerator
First of all I ONLY had the parts SENT to Wm. In Santa. Barbara because I live in Alaska and you charged a ridiculous amount to send the parts to ME! The OTHER thing is that I'm his 70 year old sister and I replaced both the swithch AND the lightbulb socket myself. Your online video was very helpful and I did NOT have to refer back to once I viewed it. It was an easy job and now my ANCIENT 24 year old refridge will PROBABLY last a lot longer than I WAnt it too! THANKS, Annette in Alaska Read more...
