For this repair, you will start by removing the first brush from the motor, using a screwdriver to remove the brush cap. Once the cap is removed, the brush can be removed. Align the new brush with the holder and then reinstall the cap. Repeat these same steps for the other brush.

Due to constant contact, pressure and vibration this part should be inspected periodically and replaced if showing signs of wear to ensure optimum performance. When replacing Steel Plate it is advised to inspect the Cork Plate and replace it if it shows signs of wear. To replace this part you will need a Screwdriver. • Unscrew the Steel Plate that is being held by Three (3) Pan Head Screws. • Once it is removed simply replace it with the new one • Reattach it using the same Three (3) screws. Please note Cork Plate and Screws are Sold Separately.

Rubber Cork Plate

Due to constant contact, pressure and vibration this part should be inspected periodically and replaced if showing signs of wear to ensure optimum performance. To replace this part: • Unscrew the Steel Plate that is being held by Three (3) Pan Head Screws. • This will allow you to remove the old Cork/Rubber Plate. • Once it is removed simply place the new one over the Steel Plate. • Reattach it using the same Three (3) screws. Power Cord

This is a power cord, and it is used with several power tools. It is made of a thick rubber that is tough, and insulated for a long life. It has two 18 gauge wires, and is 8 feet long. When removing your old cord, take note of the wire leads placements, and how they connect to the receptacle in the tool. You will have to attach the new cord similarly.

Complete Backing Pad

This is a genuine Makita replacement part, it is sold individually. It has a soft foam pad with a metal backing. It has six vacuum holes for use with the 166078-4 Dust bag. It is remove by unscrewing four 266020-6 Screws. The sandpaper is held by two clamps on the base assembly.
