This part includes one primer bulb, also known as a purge bulb. This high-quality replacement part is sourced right from the original manufacturer. When the engine of your equipment has been left unused for an extended period, the fuel will drain and evaporate out of the carburetor. To start the engine again there needs to be fuel in the carburetor. The purpose of the primer bulb is to manually pump fuel into the carburetor for an easier start. Due to its constant use and exposure to fuel it will likely crack and damage over time and will require replacing. Before you begin this repair be sure to empty the fuel from the tool.

If your engine is having trouble starting, you may be in need a new purge bulb. When the engine has been sitting for a while, unused, the fuel will drain and eventually dissolve out of the carburetor. The next time you go to use your equipment, the engine will not start until the carburetor has fuel in it. The purge bulb, also commonly referred to as a primer bulb, manually pumps fuel back into the carburetor, while purging air out. If the purge bulb is malfunctioning, you will need to pull the starter rope numerous times until the carburetor diaphragm can pump the right amount of fuel back into carburetor for the engine to start. This purge bulb is prone to hardening and cracking over time because it is in continuous contact with fuel and will need to be replaced. This part is sourced directly from the manufacturer and sold individually.

This is a single fuel filter found in numerous types of lawn and garden equipment that have small engines. The fuel filter cleans the fuel before making its way to the carburetor, thus preventing build up. If this flow of fuel is blocked, this will cause issues with starting the engine. Luckily, this common maintenance task is very quick and easy to do, and should be done annually, if not more depending on usage. You will start by draining the fuel tank and removing the spark plug.
