This is a cap assembly, also known as a spool cap. It is made of durable plastic, is red in color, and sold individually. The purpose of the cap assembly is that it keeps the spool contained securely in the spool housing. It can be removed by depressing the two tabs on either side and pulling it off. While you have it removed, it is a good time to remove any dirt and grass from the spool and cap. Install your new cap assembly by aligning the tabs with the slots on the spool housing and snap the cap on by depressing the tabs and pressing it into the spool housing.

SPRING, SPOOL COVER

This is an OEM spring located between the spool and spool cover of your trimmer. It is designed to hold the spool in position. This spring can lose tension over time and may cause the trimmer head to feed too much line or not feed any line at all, indicating the need for a new spring. The spring applies pressure to the spool, pulling it firmly next to the top of the trimmer head and lever. The lever is what regulates the amount of line coming out of the spool. This repair could not be any easier, simply remove the trimmer head cap by pushing down on the two tabs on either side. This will expose the spring, which you will see positioned onto a tab on the cap, and can just be pulled off, and a new one can be installed in its place.

This is an OEM replacement cover for a string trimmer or edger. The cover holds the spool and line securely inside the spool housing. If this part has cracked or damaged, it will need to be replaced. This is a genuine replacement lever for a string trimmer. The lever regulates the amount of line that is fed from the auto-feed spool. This part is prone to wear, and will eventually stop the line from feeding out, creating an entanglement of line around the trimmer head. To replace this part, line up the opening on the new lever with the mounting post on the trimmer head, making sure the metal tab on the lever is facing away from the trimmer head. Now press the new lever onto the post until it snaps into place securely.
