Commonly referred to as dog ears, these agitator directional cogs are manufacturer approved replacement parts that come in a package of 4 and are usually used with direct drive washing machines. We recommend replacing all 4 directional cogs at the same time. The agitator directional cogs reach across the gear teeth in one direction and dig into the gear teeth in the other direction to create the needed agitation. This thrusting motion is what tumbles your clothes during the wash cycle. When the teeth on the outer edge are damaged, the cogs will not engage with the upper agitator, making it impossible to agitate as it should. If your machine makes unusual noises, shakes/moves while operating, or will not spin or drain properly, it may be time to replace them. To access this part, simply remove the softener dispenser and then the agitator cap. You will find them attached to the agitator. Each cog is approximately 1 inch long and made of a durable plastic.

Upper agitator stopped working
Followed the simple instructions on youtube, searching for "kenmore upper agitator doesn't work." There are a number of videos there. Find the notch on agitator cover and pry off the cover using a flat screw driver. Remove the nut in the center of the agitator using the 7/16 socket with extension. Remove upper agitator (mine came off easily but some may require removing the entire agitator, then pulling off the upper agitator). Remove assembly from inside and replace the dogs. Reassemble. Suspension Spring

This suspension spring is a genuine OEM replacement part for a variety of washers and washer-dryer combos. The primary purpose of the suspension spring is to support the outer tub and keep the tub steady during loads that could cause an unbalance. If this part breaks, is worn down, or has stretched out and lost its spring, it could cause the load to be off-balance which can lead to excessive shaking, moving, noise, and leaks. This part is approximately 2 inches in length when compressed, made of durable metal, and is sold individually. For this repair, you will need a 1/4 nut driver, putty knife, flat blade screwdriver, and a pair of needle-nose pliers. Before you begin, disconnect the power, fill hoses, and drain hose to give you easy and safe access (drain hose may release some water, have a small container or towel near by). Your appliance contains 3 suspension springs, so keep this in mind if you need to order multiple of this part. We suggest you purchase several at a time, as they can be very useful to have on-hand.

This is an OEM agitator repair kit that includes an agitator cam, four directional cogs, a bearing, thrust spacer, inner cap seal, and washer. These parts are found inside the agitator auger near the top. This kit is used when the top portion of the agitator is not moving correctly but the bottom part is. The agitator is subjected to a lot of force during the wash cycle, so it is common for this part to wear over time, especially if you are consistently over-loading your washer. If your model has a softener dispenser, it will need to be removed to perform this repair. Agitator grease is recommended for this repair, but is not included in this kit.

Agitator not working correctly and leaking from somewhere underneath.
I watched the videos before I ordered the part and when the order arrived I replaced the parts with no problems. The most time consuming part of the job was cleaning the washer. You will be surprised to find what will accumulate down there after years of service. The order came in in record time so this site gets an A+ for being fast and accurate. No back-orders either. I will surely use for any-other parts I need in the future. Read more...

This is an OEM direct drive motor coupling, which provides a cushioned connection between the transmission and the motor shaft. This is the newer version of this part, made with new metal sleeves for added strength. It is located between the motor and transmission on direct drive washers with no belt. If the drive system seizes, the coupling is designed to break to prevent the drive motor from damage. Consequently, this part may need to be replaced as your appliance ages. Never overload your washer, as this can speed up its deterioration. Symptoms of a faulty motor coupling include a washer pumping but not spinning, slow spinning, the washer not agitating, and unusual noises. This coupling kit contains all the parts necessary to replace your existing direct drive motor coupling. Please note, that after replacing the motor coupling your washer may smell like burning rubber for the first few uses, this is entirely normal as the part becomes acclimated to the machine. Each is sold individually.

Washer would not spin or agitate
First, I found it very easy to follow the help on your web site to determine the most likely parts that would cause my problems. The direct drive motor coupling could be the cause of both problems. Also the agitator repair kit was the most likely cause of the agitator problem, So, I ordered both parts. When AI received the parts there were videos included instructing every detail for installation. I just followed the video for the direct drive motor coupling and both problems were solved with the one part. It took about 30 minutes and was a simple installation. .Thanks for your good service. It saved me a service call or maybe a new washer and dryer set. Read more...

This is a genuine OEM replacement clutch assembly for your washing machine. A clutch assembly, also known as a clutch or a washer clutch, is responsible for spinning the tub during the spin cycle. If the clutch becomes worn and is no longer operating properly, your clothes will remain soaked after the cycle is finished. Some other signs it is time to replace the clutch is if your washer is noisy while running, there is a burning smell, or the machine is shaking excessively. This kit comes with the clutch, brake cam driver, spring, retaining ring, and a nylon anti-rattle clip. Before beginning this repair, be sure to disconnect the power and water supply to your machine. Depending on your washer model, you may need an additional person to help lower the machine onto its back, as access to the drive shaft to change the clutch assembly may be easiest through the bottom of the appliance.

The direct drive water pump is used in washing machines that do not have belts, to remove water from the tub during the drain cycle. It is located on the motor and attached by two clips. The drain pump has two ports for water to pass through, one port is larger than the other, and this is where the hoses connect. If your washer leaks, will drain the water, or is filling and draining at the same time, there may be an issue with your pump. Blockages or clogs in the hoses may be contributing to this. Before you replace the pump, be sure to disconnect the power and water lines to your appliance. This repair requires a pair of slip-joint pliers, a flat head screwdriver, and a putty knife. You may find it useful to have a container on hand to collect any water left in the hoses, and to have another person to assist with lifting and lowering the machine. This is a genuine OEM part made of durable white plastic. Other names you may know it by include direct drive washer pump, drain pump, washer drain pump, or water pump.

There are many symptoms that may indicate an issue with your water inlet valve. These can include your washer not filling with water, it will not stop filling, the washer is leaking, or it is both filling and draining at the same time. You can test if your valve is faulty two different ways. The first is to disconnect the power while the washer fills, if water continues to fill the tub, then the valve should be replaced. The second way is to use a multimeter to test for continuity on the valve solenoids. If you do need to replace the water inlet valve, this is a genuine OEM part that has two ports and is compatible with half-inch ID hose. Before beginning your repair, please be sure to disconnect the power and water supply to your washing machine.

Tub Spring

This tub spring is a genuine OEM replacement part for your washing machine and is sold individually. There are other names that the tub spring goes by, such as the suspension spring, balance spring, or counterweight spring. The purpose of this spring is to ensure that the tub sits straight during the spin cycle, and it does this by counterbalancing the weight of the motor. If the spring has broken, it will cause the tub to be off-balance, which can make the washer shake and become noisy when spinning. An off-balance tub can also cause damage to other components of your washer, so it should be fixed quickly. If your model of washing machine has more than one tub spring, they should all be replaced at the same time as they tend to wear evenly. The tools you will need to complete this repair are a pair of pliers, a Philips screwdriver, and a flat blade screwdriver. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your washer before beginning this repair.

On the lid on your washing machine there is a pin that engages with the lid switch. This works by telling the machine that the lid is closed which then allows for the washer to start. If your washer is not starting, or does not advance through the different cycles, there may be a problem with your lid switch. This part can wear out or become damaged over time and will need to be replaced so your machine can operate. Replacing this genuine OEM part is an easy job that requires the use of a Philips screwdriver along with a 5/16-inch nut driver. You will need to disconnect the power to your washer before beginning this repair and pull the machine away from the wall so you can easily access the back panel. Since the lid switch is found underneath the control panel, you will need to unscrew and lift the panel back to gain access. In order to remove the old switch, you first disconnect the wire harness, and remove the screw holding the grounding wire in place. The lid of the washer needs to be lifted, as the pin will be engaged with the switch if the lid is in the closed position. With the lid still open, the new switch can be put in place, install the screw for the grounding wire, and reattached the wire harness. The control panel can then be lowered back down, ensuring the locking tabs are engaged.
