If an element is not heating up, it is a sign that it should be replaced. This is an easy repair that does not require any tools. Before beginning this repair, ensure that the elements are turned off and cold to the touch. With the element removed, inspect the terminals for signs of corrosion or arcing. If these are present, you will need to replace the terminal block as well, or you will have the same issues come up again. This OEM replacement part measures 8 inches in diameter with five coils.

This element has looped terminal ends and comes with a black medallion center. This element is a genuine OEM replacement part, has looped terminal ends, comes with a black medallion center, and fits most electric ranges. All burners are made of a heating wire that produces heat from electricity. Remove the non-functional burner element from the terminal block (or receptacle). Use a multi-meter to check for continuity. Check the end of the terminals for corrosion or heat damage. If there is corrosion or heat damage, replace the whole terminal block or receptacle at the same time you replace the damaged coil. Before you start this repair, make sure that the element is turned off and cool to the touch.

If your element is not heating, you can test the element for continuity with a multimeter. If the element doesn’t have continuity you will need to replace the element. If it doesn’t have continuity it is suggested to check the element switch because it could be defective and need to be replaced. This element is 1200 watts and is a genuine OEM part. The manufacturer suggests making sure the cooking element is cooled before starting the repair. Please remember to disconnect the power to the appliance before starting the repair.
