This infinite switch for eight inch range burners is almost three inches long. This infinite switch is for 8-inch range burners. When an element is unable to produce any heat on a modern oven, the problem may lie with the infinite switch. This switch is responsible for sending power to the surface elements. Check the element and terminal block to ensure they are working properly. If they are in working order, check the infinite switch at the control panel for any wires that have overheated, or broken terminals to or from the infinite switch. If the infinite switch is damaged or malfunctioning, it will need to be replaced. Remember to unplug your range before beginning this repair.

This dual surface element control switch is an OEM replacement part for select ranges. It controls the surface element, allowing you to turn it on or off and adjust the heat level. If your surface element is malfunctioning or not responding to adjustments, replacing the control switch can resolve the issue. To install the new switch, unplug the range or turn off the house circuit breaker to ensure safety. The switch is typically located behind the front control panel of the stove. Remove the panel and disconnect the old switch from its wiring connections. Install the new switch by securing it in place and reconnecting the wiring. After installation, restore power to the range and test the surface element to ensure proper function.

This part has been updated by the manufacturer. This updated part now has 7 wire terminals instead of 5. The terminals are all labeled, however, the new switch needs to be tested before connecting the pilot lamp wire (P). To test the new switch: 1) Connect the Line Wires (L1 and L2), connect the Load Wires (H1 and H2). 2) Do not connect the pilot lamp (P) wire yet. 3) Reconnect the power to the range and turn on the new switch and one other switch. 4) Connect the leads of a volt meter on L1 of the new switch and P of the other switch you turned on. 5) If the volt meter reads 220V, the L1 and L2 wires on the new switch must be reveresed. 6) Disconnect power, reverse Line Wires if needed and connect the P wire. 7) Reconnect power to the range after reassembly.

This surface element infinite switch controls the heat output of an electric cooktop burner by cycling power on and off to maintain the temperature you select, allowing smooth adjustment from a low simmer to a full boil. Commonly used for the left-rear burner position, it operates on 240 volts and helps ensure consistent, reliable heating performance. Replacing a worn switch can resolve issues such as a burner that won’t heat, heats only partially, fluctuates between hot and cold, stays stuck at one temperature, or shows signs of electrical damage such as burnt contacts, sparking, or buzzing. Installation normally involves disconnecting the appliance from power, accessing the control panel, and transferring the burner’s wiring to the new switch.
