The drip bowl is used for electric ranges or cooktops with the coiled style burners, to catch any drips, spills, or crumbs that may occur while cooking. If your bowls have become discolored, corroded, difficult to clean, or otherwise damaged it may be time to replace them. This repair is easy and does not require any tools to complete the job. Ensure that all burners are turned off and cool to the touch before starting. First you need to lift up and disconnect the burner from the socket. While you have the burner out, it is a good time to check it for any signs of damage. Look at the terminals for any signs of arcing or burning. If you notice this, you will want to replace both the element and the receptacle it plugs into. Remove the old drip bowl by pulling it out. Then insert the new one by lining up the small hole on the side with the element block. Ensure that it is siting flat and then plug the element back into the socket. Please note that the manufacturer has substituted this part, and it no longer has a solid bottom. It is not recommended to cover the hole with products like aluminum foil, as it can trap heat or melt, becoming a fire hazard. As it is an OEM part, it ensures it will fit your model. The drip bowls are sold individually, chrome in color and about 8 inches in diameter, made to fit under a 6 inch burner element.

Burner would not heat up and the cook top on light would not turn off.
First turn off breaker. Pull out stove and unplug. There was about 8 screws on the panel on the back side of the control panel. Remove panel. Remove knob on the bad control and there is 2 screws behind knob. Remove those 2 screws and take the new control and remove 1 wire at a time from old switch to new one then put back together. The drip bowl is found underneath the burner element of ranges with a rolled terminal style plug-in surface element. The purpose of the bowl is to catch any drips or spills that may occur while cooking. If the drip bowl has become damaged or tarnished beyond cleaning, it may be time for a replacement. This is a genuine OEM part that is 8-inches in size and is sold individually. When you replace the drip bowl, you will need to remove the element from the terminal block. At this time, you should also inspect the elements for any signs of damage or corrosion and replace them if necessary.

This is a genuine OEM replacement part. This surface burner plug-in block kit is designed for use with surface elements of your ranges and cooktops. This kit helps connect the wire harness to the surface element. If your element is not heating, or if it only heats intermittently you may have an issue with your terminal block. This is a newer-style terminal block kit, it includes the plastic receptacle block, two metal brackets, two pre-crimped hi-temp wire leads with terminals, two ceramic nuts, two screws, and heat shrinking insulators. Before beginning this repair make sure you have unplugged your appliance.

Elements heat sporatically
I followed the steps in the instructions which were very easy, once the electric power was turned off to the range. I replaced 2 burner plug in blocks in less than 30 minutes. I am embarrassed to say that these burners have not been functional for almost 3 years. I thought that I could not work with electric. Just make sure you have the tools on hand and read the instructions first. I am a mid-50's female, if I can do this so can anyone else! Read more...

Rusted gas burners
Removed 4 burners from cooking module.A hammer works from the bottom of the burner to loosen up all the rust.Cleaned all the rust off the burner plate. Before installing the new burners. I filled the inside bottom cavity with muffler repair paste from Auto Zone.It comes in a plastic container. The purpose is to keep the burner from rusting over time when hot and exposed to air and failing again.Installed the burners in the pan and coated the exposed metal with same repair paste.Let the unit dry for 2 days.Installer ignitor parts.Installed gas feed tubes, Ground wire from both ignitor base screws to bottom cover screw. The purpose is to assure a good ground to base.Re-connected feed wire to ignitor base plugThe biggest cause of module failure is rust. Placed units back in the unit and no problems. All four burners fired right up.$190.vs $600 new modules. This will probably last for years.Jen Air is not going to be very happy that I won't be buying their whole module replacement package @ $300 each every three years. If you pay 3 grand for a cooktop it should last longerThanks guys for making individual parts available. It takes a little time but, in the long run, it's worth it! This 6 Inch 1200-watt radiant surface element with limiter is located under the main cooktop. When the element is turned on, it will heat up and provide heat to the cooking area on top of the range. If your element will not supply heat you will need to replace it. When replacing the radiant surface element please make sure the element is cool to touch before starting the repair. Disconnect the power to your range before beginning the repair. This is a genuine OEM part.

The range top heating element burnt out
I removed the range top and took it apart. I then marked the wires as instructed. I then disconnected the wires, removed the old element, put on the new element and connected the wires (the extension wire provided in the kit made this easy). I then put everything back together and turned the power back on. The instructions provided with the replacement element made the process pretty easy. Read more...
