LSE9900AFE Maytag Washer Dryer Combo - Instructions

Remove front cover lower screws(2) with Phillips screwdriver. Remove Upperlid Bolts (left & right side) under top cover , Flip lid Back to access siphon break (rear right corner) Remove drain hose clamp, Remove clamp at bottom of siphon break. Remove (4) screws rear of washer around drain hose elbow. Remove siphon break, reinstall in reverse order. (Make Sure new siphon break washer is installed in siphon break.

Repairing both the broken washing machine handle and dryer door latch were extremely easy. The instructions that were sent with the parts I ordered were excellent and easy to understand. I only needed a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench. I used the screwdriver to pry out the old broken dryer door latch and simply pushed in the new one. I used the same screwdriver and an adjustable wrench to remove the broken washer handle and replace it with the new one. Thank you PartSelect for all your help. Went on line an watch video that described the problem. Order the part and received it overnight. Went back online to your website and watched the video on how to do the repair. Followed the suggestions in the video and finished the repair in about 30 minutes. Really appreciate the help your company give me and have bookmarked your site for future use.

Install new siphon break connector: 1. Loosened the clamp holding the drain hose in place on the elbow at the rear of the washer. Removed the hose from the elbow. 2. Removed the round upper access plate on the rear of the washer. 3. Removed the 4 screws holding the elbow in place, thereby releasing the siphon break connector and internal drain hose inside the washer cabinet. 4. Reached through the access port, grasped the siphon break connector end of the internal drain hose, pulled it through the access port. 5. Loosened and removed the clamp on hose, then removed the old siphon break connector from the end of the hose. 6. Installed the new siphon break connector onto the hose, clamped it in place, then returned the hose into the washer cabinet through the access port and positioned it onto the elbow, tightened the part down by reinstalling 4 screws at elbow on rear of the washer and then reconnected/clamped the external drain hose onto the elbow and replaced the access port cover.

When we tried to remove what was left of the old handle, the nuts were rusted into the screws, so we had to cut them off with a hacksaw. Unfortunately, the new handle came with bolts, but no nuts (which I don't understand), so we had to find some nuts that fit the bolts. Once we did, the installation of the new handle was a breeze.

Used nut driver to remove front cover/door assembly. Used screwdriver to pry broken latch receiver out of front cover. Snapped new latch receiver in cover. Old striker/latch nub retained. Reattached cover/door assembly.

I was impressed with the fast time the part was delivered. The price was good too. The installation video and instructions did not match my dryer but it was helpful to some extent. The video and instructions being different was not ya'll's fault because of the age of the dryer. It took me so long to change the switch was because of the location and design of the switch. I got it though.

This repair took me longer because I was just giving it a try - I have no experience, although I tend to be "handy." I'm sure anyone with experience would rate this as "easy" and have taken only a short time. I had to watch the video several times to understand what to do - and the comments were helpful too. My washer is an OLD maytag, so I removed the front of the dash and pulled it forward to access the electronics. My switch had only 2 prongs, so I hooked up to the "lid closed" option on the new switch. It works perfectly now. Very pleased I gave it a try.

I found on youtube that there are directions to repair. Dryer problems are usually one of three things, the door switch being one of them. i checked this last (should have been first). ordered the part( about 65% off sear's cost) and it came in one day! It went on really easy as long as you knew from repair video how to access inside. almost spent $400.00 on a new one.
