1069640584 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Removed the six screws holding the bottom access plate found at the rear of the refrigerator. This gives you easy access to the run capacitor that has a retaining clip. Remove the wire clip and pull out the capacitor (it has two quick disconnect terminals). Reverse the process using the new run capacitor to complete the repair.

I used a socket and ratchet to back out part way the screws holding the seal. There are 4 pieces of metal strips that the screws go through to hold the seal on. Don't remove the screws completely or the plastic panel of the door will fall or come off. Take the new door seal and power it with baby power. This will help make the seal not hang up when you close the door. Now, shake off excess powder outside and then begin to install the seal. Start at the top left or right corner and work across pushing the lip of the seal into the recess of the metal strip. You will want to tighten some of the screws as you go but leave enough looseness to push the seal into the strip's recess. Proceed down each side and the bottom last. I should note that you could remove the door first and you wouldn't have to stand on your head to screw in the bottom of the seal.

Exactly how the part select video described it. Threw a little curve ball figuring out which timer setting to set it to. But the instructions provided with defrost timer walked me right through it. No problem. After installing part nothing happened for about ten minutes, which had me second guessing each and every step. Then, like magic, cold air began blowing. What a relief. I did remove the run capacitor of the starthing kit of compressor and another one new. It work fine.

I looked for the obvious sign of malfunction, a leak lack of air flow dirty coil finding nothing obvious I checked the electrical components and the first was the start relay with a bimetal temperature switch was the problem that was identifyed when removed due to the relay sounding like it was internally damaged because of severe rateling

I was careful to unplug each cord one at a time so that I can easily match them up to the new start relay. Once I got the cords plugged into the new start relay, I went ahead and plugged in the fridge and it worked like it never stopped working. I must admit, I'm still nervous about this fridge because I never had to do anything like this in my life so in the back of my mind, I'm always wondering if I did it correctly or not. I was giving a lesson on how to make sure that I have it on correctly but that didn't put me at ease..lol. Parts Select sent this part in less then a day and that made me appreciate there business even more. I was concerned that the part wouldn't get here until later on that week.

Pulled the electric plug! Removed the freezer shelf and the rear shelf supports by pulling straight up. Swung rear panel out of the way after taking out the two phillips head screws at the top. Removed the plastic deflector grill to which the motor is attached with a nut driver. Removed motor from grill and disconnected wire prongs (pull off). Attach new motor. Only issue - the ground prong has been moved to the front of the motor so the wire just reaches and has to be gently bent back so the fan blade clears it. Reattach deflector grill. Push on fan blade, but not too far to hit wire. Reassemble the rest in reverse order.

I followed the instructions sent with the piece and VOILA it was repaired in less than 5 minutes. The whole process from finding the part of the web site to the ordering to the arrival of the part to the repair was so wonderfully simple. THANK YOU!!!

I was a Sears repair man for fourty eight years , so I don"t think I should say how easy this was.

Snapped in new end caps and attahed existing shelf bar. Have done this twice. We tend to stuff too many items on that bottom shelf.

We wasted time looking for the electrical schematic on our refrigerator (the first step in the instructions). By skipping that and reading further in the instructions, the type of cooling that the refrigerator has can easily be determined by the colors of the wires that go to the defrost timer. You need to know this to set up the timer properly for your specific refrigerator. Had I just started there, the entire repair would have taken less than 10 minutes. Very simple repair and it works like a charm, no more water coming into the refrigerator and the ice cream is rock hard. Glad we didn't have to spend lots on a new appliance. Thanks Part Select.com! When new parts arrived took them out of their packaging and just took off the broken end caps and replaced them with the new ones. As for the hinge plate it was already off so I just had to replace it with the new one. My next project will be to order the door seal and replace that since Part Select has that part in stock.

I just followed the enclosed instructions

Ordered new replacement parts. Took new parts to the work site and proceeded to install them. First removing the reminance of the old clips from the bar its self. Using a flat screw driver pri the metal tabs open so the old part can be removed. Reset the crimp in the metal bar and install the new clip into the ends of the metal bar. Insert the new clips into the appropiate holes in the door liner and pop into place. Very easy repair when you have the right parts.

On the left side I unscrewed the screw and replace it with a new one . The right side in had to take s file and file of the rivet. You can use a rivet gun or a metal screw to replaced the clip. Once it is finish open the refrigerator door to see how to line the kick plate into the clip. A piece of cake.
