broken spring in the light switch in refer
Initially thought I could repair switch, but then discovered spring was broken. Ordered the new switch (Parts Select is very efficient - received switch in 3 days). Was encouraged by the posts regarding the switch installation. I had some difficulty removing the old switch. Used a pocket knife to ease the switch out of the hole to reveal the clip/spring. After noting the clip/spring location I used a small flat-blade screwdriver to release the clip. Even though I released the "molded" clip/spring(be sure to note where the spring is on the new switch and release it on the switch it was tight in the hole and had to use pliers to carefully remove the old switch. After removing the old switch, used pliers to gently remove the wire leads. Then install the leads on the new switch. Note the orientation for replacing the switch and gently feed the connecting wires into the hole so they won't kink or prevent the switch from entering the hole. Install the switch noting the clip/spring location and the orientation of the lever that the door closes on to turn off the light. Be sure to put it in without binding at an angle. Thanks to Parts Select for this service! I'll definitely be back.

Left door light switch lost its spring
Unplugged appliance. Using a small putty knife I moved the switch out far enough to grab it with pliers. Moved wiring to new switch and pushed into place after testing.

Light switch broken off by container in freezer
Pried out the old switch with small screwdriver, popped in the new one and tah-dah!! ..the light came on. While I was at it, I cleaned out the freezer :). I cannot begin to imagine what a repairman would have charged for this.

Glass shelf shattered during cleaning
It was greqat to find this part so easily and to be able to buy just the glass shelf without added hardware. When it arrived, I just unpacked it, washed it and put it into its place in the refrigerator. Much easier than the cleanup of the shattered glass :-)

My refrigerator light did not work.
After years of using a flash light to check the contents of my refrigerator, I decided to try to fix the problem myself. Replacing the light switch was very easy. The directions were straight forward and I'm sorry I waited so long to tackle the problem.

Automatic ice maker was not working properly
We had an Appliance Repair service come to fix, and they replaced the ice maker and the water valve, but ice maker was still not performing properly. We use RO water to fill the ice maker and because the water was also going through the charcoal cartridge, there wasn't enough water pressure to completely fill the tray. Plus charcoal filter was probably clogged. The original Blue Bypass Cap was nowhere to be found and I even called Kitchenaid to get one. They were of no help. But found your site, and found the part I needed. And best of all, ice maker is not jamming and is now making real ice cubes, not hollow, thin ones. And the water dispenser is now working too, so am very happy that such a small thing, fixed the big problem. Who knows, a clogged charcoal filter may have been the whole problem from the start.

rust on the shaft in bottom drawer freezer
Thanks to a very patient husband. He looked at the situation and methodically took the freezer drawer apart by trial and error and was able to replace the old shaft with the one we had ordered. We do not understand why this basic information is not in the manual or on the internet. It was relatively easy once we knew in what order to take the drawer apart.

Replacing left side pantry drawer end cap and deli cover
My husband and I did this together. Most of the time was taking out all the food in the bottom part of the fridge. Once things are out, take out the deli drawer and the crisper drawers. Take out the glass over the crisper drawers and below. Now you'll see the end cap. We only replaced the left side because the plastic knob that connected the deli cover broke off. So we had to pull out the left side cap. It was hard to pop out. We ended up breaking it as we used a screw driver to get leverage in popping it out. Take off the metal drawer hardware and put on new cap. Pop the new cap in. It went in way easier than taking out the old piece. Now that you are done with that put all the parts and drawers back in place in the fridge. The deli drawer cover will pop back on the knobs. It might take a little pushing on the sides to get it in place but it will evenly pop into place like the side cap.

Broken light switch
Installing the switch was a breeze, the tough part was removing the old switch. I watched a video on the PartSelect website which showed how to remove and reinstall the switch. I attempted to remove the switch the same way that they showed on the video, but the problem was my switch was surrounded with foam insulation which was stuck to the old switch. I attempted to pull out the switch but was not able to extricate the switch. Finally, I called a friend who works with these switches and he cut away the foam insulation and removed the switch. Being the handyman that I am, I was able to reinstall the new switch. Hope this helps anyone with an Amana refrigerator that has the light switch on the side wall instead of in the light console like the video showed. Don't be afraid to cut away the foam on the right and left sides and the bottom. Don't cut away at the top, because that is where the wire connections are located and you might cut those off and then you'll be ordering more parts. Good luck.
