I installed this bypass cap on my model and the water flows from the dispenser for the first 1.25 cups, then it starts to pulse as if it is lacking flow. If I stop and wait a second and try again, it still pulses. If I wait a few minutes it will repeat the first behavior I described. Any ideas?

Hi Bill, thank you for the question. Small amounts of air entering the system create pockets that cause pulsing. Ensure the bypass cap is fully twisted and locked into the filter housing. Depress the dispenser lever continuously for 2 to 3 minutes. Let the air sputter out completely without letting go of the cradle. Pass at least 2 to 3 gallons of water completely through the system. Start by removing the lower drip pan exposing the two nuts that hold on the outer trim. Remove the two 5/16 screws and gently pry the trim molding loose from the door. The entire touch pad and trim will come off leaving only three connections to carefully unplug. Once this is removed, there are two additional 5/16 screws holding the mecha
... Read morenism in place in the door. Remove screws, remove the mechanism and dislodge the hose from the clips that secure it in its place. Once this is done, all is left is to pry open the slot where the paddle rests being careful of the spring, and place the new paddle assuring the spring is in the proper slot. I had to slightly bend the end of the paddle in order to make better contact with the switch that operates the ice and water. I fine tuned this to operate with a very soft touch. Once the paddle is changed, and operates smoothly, reassemble mechanism, water tube, screws, and reattach plugs to the touch pad. Snap cover in place, return two remaining screws, and enjoy.
