HTS22GBPW General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

I thought I'd be nice and surprise my boyfriend by cleaning his frig for him. In doing so I broke the little plastic rail. I felt bad because the frig is not that old. I asked him where the owner's manual was, and he had no idea. Typical male. So I got on line on the GE website and tried to look up the part number, but they didn't have a diagram of the inside of the frig. I went to your website, found the part in minutes, ordered it, and amazingly it came in just two days. It sat on the dining room table waiting for him to fix it for 4 days. I finally got sick of looking at it on the table so that morning while he was still sleeping I grabbed my handy little cordless screwdriver, unscrewed the screws, slipped the new rail in, and screwed it in. It took less than 5 minutes. He got up later in the morning and asked me where I put the rail and glass top. I said "Where it belongs!" He was shocked.

I replaced the thermostat. I simply followed the insructions in the video on your website and it was done in about 5-10 minutes.

the slide had broken so ordered ane one according to model and serial numbers..recieved par in 1 day and put it on in less than 5 minutes

verify the heating element was o.k., found the top of the thermostat popped off,it had water in it,probably froze and came apart,cut the wires to the old thermostat and splice the new ones together,put the cover back on and verify operation

Ordered the part on Monday, it was delivered Thursday morning, and installed in less than 10 minutes. Part Select is awesome, would definetly use again!

First I removed the glass shelf on top of the drawer. I then removed the drawer and unscrewed the old drawer rail. After this I cleaned everything, screwed in the new drawer rail, reinstalled glass and drawer and I was finished.

3 weeks After changing the defrost heater, i had to change the thermostat, part was suppose to come with wire connectors and everything needed, it didn't. Cut two wires to old thermostst, strip about a 1/4 inch of insulation and crimp new wires on part together. cover with heat shrink and heat with lighter until sealed.

i took out back frame and cleared off the ice on the metal condenser. I cut wires from old thermostat and removed it. Stripped new wires and attached to the wires in the frig. We taped it with electrical tape and put it back and closed it up. it works beautifully! We watched a video on youtube and that helped a great deal!

I watched the online video on how to replace a defrost limiter. It was almost exactly like my situation and made the job seem familiar. It was inexpensive ($8 part)and easy to do.

The plastic slide rail that held up the bottom shelf of my frig as well as the top drawer had cracked & eventually broke. Being a widow who lives alone, I knew I could call my son to fix my frig - but I thought, maybe I could do this myself. I found the Brand, Model # & info I needed right on the inside of my frig. I did an internet search for Refrigerator parts, another first for me, found this web-site, then a diagram of my frig, I selected a part & ordered it. When it came in, I had ordered the slide for the bottom drawer & I needed the slide for the top drawer. I called the # from the invoice & got the nicest lady who found the correct part #, ordered it, then proceeded to process the return of the incorrect part I had ordered. The correct part came 2 days later & my credit card was immediately credited after they received the part I sent back. I was so excited to complete the "repair" myself, then with great pride I got my screw driver and changed out 2 screws - "completing my first repair job, all by myself". Unplug the refrigerator. Pull all shelves out of the freezer. Remove light bulb shield and light bulb. Remove the two hex head screws on either side of the light bulb. Wiggle out the back wall. It is a tight sqeeze, but can be done. Locate the sensor on the top of the coils. It is held on by a simple clip. Wiggle the sensor and twist a little to take it off. Take wire cutters and cut the two wires into the sensor near the sensor to allow lots of room to splice in the new sensor. Strip about a quarter inch of wires left in the freezer. Use some sort of wire connectors, like twist caps, which will allow you to connect the two wires to the new sensor. Make sure to match the colors. I used shrink tube and line connectors. Once you have the new wires spliced together and protected with either shrink tube or electrical tape, tuck the excess wire out of the way and attach the new sensor. This is easily done by slight pressure on the sensor with the tube in between the clip and sensor. Make sure the wires are tuck out of the way and reassemble the freezer panel, light bulb, and shelves in the reverse order.

I took off the back panel in the freezer. Located the wires going to the old thermostat, cut them with wire cutters. I then spliced the matching wires together and attached the part to the coil tube (There is a little clip on the part, be sure to do this because I forgot and had to go back and do this again!!!).

I ordered the part but my husband had to work out of town for a week. The fridge kept getting warmer, so when the part came I just watched the video on the internet, (bit the bullet) and did the repair just as I saw it done on the video. It was simple and exactly the same as the video. It took a little longer for me because there was a lot of ice built up on the coils, so I used my hair dryer to melt the ice. My refridgerator is working great now.

I took the ice maker out then the panels that closes in the evaporator coil. Disconnected the defrost censer and tested it with an ice bath. The censer did not close the circuit. So it's bad. I got the parts .(Very fast I might add. The PartSelect team did a great job of getting it to me). I the stripped the wires and spliced the like colors back together and tested the censer again with an ice bath. It closed this time. I started the frig and have not heard anything from the client. In this case "No news is good news". Thanks PartSelect

Refrigerator was showing actual temperature of 80 deg, freezer was about 3 deg high. (house temp was 65 at the time) Defrost heater seemed like the only component able to heat that much, so the defrost thermostat seemed like the likely culprit. I followed the installation directions in the video, and the fridge has been fine ever since.
