GLVC25V7FW2 Frigidaire Refrigerator - Instructions

This was the last step of serial repairs to the ice crusher portion of the ice maker. I have practically replaced the entire assembly. All the blades were installed incorrectly (at factory? Afterwards?) and had bent. That caused problems for other parts. I hadn't noticed that the housing was weakened and my prior repair I did something dumb and the door on housing wasn't closing properly, so it snapped. I bought a new housing and installed it. My #1 tip is WATCH THE VIDEO! There are some things that have to be put together just so. You need things to line up and be under slight tension from springs. Last time I had it under too much tension. The door got in the way of the blades and broke. So this time I was more careful to do it correctly. Everything is working perfectly now. This design is clever, and I feel like I can diagnose and fix it again in future. "Steve's" instructional videos are a huge help. He shows exactly what to do.

watched the video, ordered the part and handed it to my husband. He quickly removed the hinge cover and took it apart--the lower door bearing was tightened with glue which made it difficult but once that was out of the way, it was remove, assemble and back in business. I watched the video on line after identifying the proper parts I needed. When the parts arrived I followed the easy instructions I had watched and proceeded to turn off the unit and remove the items and shelves from the door and then removed the cover plate and two screws from the bracket holding the door in position. Laying the door on a blanket I was able to quickly remove the broken part and insert the new plastic bearing in place. I then removed the plastic part on the lower bracket and installed the new piece. The door was easily put back on the refrigerator and was aligned perfectly. Putting shelves and items back in place was still less then the fifteen minutes time.

When my parts arrived I took a screwdriver and removed the hinge cover on the top of the refrigerator door. I then took a 3/8 drive ratchet and a 3/8 socket and removed the 2 screws on top of the fridge that hold the door hinge on( be sure to empty your door before you take the bolts out). I lifted the door out and layed it in the floor and upon inspection I found that the hinge bearing that fits inside the bottom of the door was completely broken off. I had to take a flat screwdriver and dig it out enough to grab it with a pair of pliers and pull it out. I inserted the new bearing and made sure it was all the way in then applied some petroleum jelly around it and the door closing cam. My door closing cam was still good so I didn't have to replace it. I lifted the door and placed it back in the hole on the bottom, closed the door, reinstalled the hinge on top, adjusted the door, tightened the bolts and reinstalled the hinge cover. Piece of cake thanks to the video on the web site!!! I know from now on where to go for parts I need for any of my appliances. Thanks !!!!!

Removed broken parts and installed new ones. Only had a little problem getting supports out. I think they had sticky stuff from spills in the refrigerator that made it more difficult.

Removed ice maker bin...removed screws and housing and reinstalled all...very easily completed.

You pop the old frame out, take out the glass, slide the new frame in and reinstall the shelf. No tools required. Very easy.

Put a new door bearing and problem solved

I tested the components in the refrigerator defrost function. I used digital multimeter and checked for continuity. Defrost thermostat must 32 degrees or lower.

Took the glass out of the shipping box and it just slid right in. It was a perfect match.

took out the glass popped out the cover and put the new one on and put the glass on. DONE

First I defrosted the entire unit, both sides for 24 hours. Restarted, I now have water dispensing. (It had apparently frozen) Next I took out the ice crushing part and took it apart, (a few screws) by removing the broken floppy piece; the small plastic floppy door that allows ice to crush, replaced this small piece, rather than replacing the entire big plastic piece that I ordered. Used a slot screw driver removed the old floppy piece that was broken and removed the same piece from the new one and switched them out. Reassembled the entire unit (a few screws), put the ice back in and it works great. I got the instructions for taking apart this from this site, however, it was fairly easy to figure out. Just be patient with the plastic parts.
