CE8407W2-PCE8407W2 Whirlpool Dryer - Instructions

Removed 2 screws on the bottom of front panel of dryer & pulled it off. Next I got down & looked to the back & bottom inside of the dryer. I spyed the heating element,I pulled off the two wires from the thermostats[ orange & black. I removed two screws from the heating element plate & dropped it down & removed it from the dryer. Reverse procedure to reinstall. Will see if we can get another 10 years service out of it.

My problem was that my AMANA dryer would not heat. The site suggested testing the two thermostats so I opened the dryer but didn’t follow the instructions in the video tutorial on the site since my AMANA is different. I used a nut driver and needle-nosed pliers for the whole job. Here’s what I did:

1. Unplugged the dryer.

2. Disconnected the exhaust pipe at the dryer.

3. Pulled dryer away from back wall about two feet.

4. Removed the two bottom panel screws (floor level) and removed panel.

5. Removed the two door panel screws and removed door panel by pulling out at the bottom until the two spring clips released from the top panel.

6. Noted the colors of the wires going to the door switch and removed (green, black and white from left to right).

7. Noted the colors of the wires going to the lamp and removed (bottom - black and top - red.)

8. Removed the two top panel screws, lifted up the top panel and leaned it against a support.

9. Removed the four bulkhead screws and carefully lifted up and removed the bulkhead being sure to support the drum. Took note of the belt path around the motor and idler pulleys.

10. Reached under the drum and took the belt off the idler pulley and motor drive pulley.

11. Used the belt to lift and remove the drum through the front opening.

I noticed that the internal vent pipe had become disconnected (which probably caused internal overheating) so I fixed that.

I then removed the wires to the thermostats and tested both for continuity. The limit thermostat was bad. I also saw that the belt was becoming cracked. I ordered a new limit thermostat and belt.

Installation of the new parts was a snap. I removed the old thermostat with the nut driver and replaced with the new one and pushed the wire connectors back on. Replacing the belt was a little trickier but not a problem. (Be sure to route the new belt correctly as noted on Step 9 and place ribbed surface next to drum.)

I closed up the dryer by reversing the opening steps.

Easy, but the directional video on the website wasnt for the dryer my daughter had. Didnt have to take all apart as directed. Should have only taken the lower cover off the front of the dryer. But, got the chance to really vacuum & clean out all the extra build up of lint that was a Major fire hazard. Turned out good in the end, Dryer heats like it should now. Thanks from TEXAS

I pulled the heating element loose and layed it on the floor so I could see if the elements were heating. This required totally disassembling the dryer from the front including removing the drum. Then I bypassed the door switch so the dryer would run disassembled. Then plugged in the dryer and turned it on. Heating coils did not glow... Hmmmm. Put a meter across the two thermal switches mounted on the element assembly to find one of them was open. Ordered switch from PARTSELECT; ordered a belt too while I had it apart. Parts came very fast and reassembled with new parts. WORKS LIKE A CHAMP!!! Thanks Partselect!

replaced the limit thermostat,thermal fuse, and cycling thermostat. Bingo. Problem solved. Noticed that the back of cycling thermostat had a buildup of lint and I'm wondering if that acted as insulation and caused a wrong reading of temperature. Did not have to disassemble dryer as I could reach all parts with lower front panel removed. To make it easer to install new parts with one hand I lightly hot glued the screws through the new parts and taped the upper portion of new part to bulkhead. With everything lined up and no need to hold the screws I was able to attach using one hand. It was a reach but easily done.

Just snapped the new plastic latch into the hole (the hole was there because in trying to extract the old latch, it fell into the inside of the door). Took two seconds. Order to arrival of the part took only 22 hours!

Leaned machine back and put blocking under machine to elevate. Removed two screws from front of bottom panel. Lift panel out and set aside. Next remove two bottom screws from door frame. Pull bottom of frame out and up to release. Remove wire clips from door light and switch. Set door frame aside. Inside drum, take three phillips head screws out, that hold filter frame in, remove filter frame. Next remove four front screws on drum alignment face plate. Set aside. Grasp drum and pull forward, off back guide rollers. Drum will drop down a little, reach in around drum and slide belt off. Remember to look in under drum to see proper placement of belt aroun motor shaft and idler pulley. Replace new belt around drum with ribs against drum. Route belt around motor shaft pulley, pull idler pulley toward motor and place belt around pulley smooth top runs against pulley. Reinstall everything you removed. Connect wires to door.

Disconnected the electricity,removed lower front panel with socket wrench and located high limit thermal fuse Removed wires and unscrewed old part and installed new thermal fuse. I reconnected the wires and it works perfectly.Also vacuumed out the lower area to remove unwanted lint while I was in this area. I saved a $75.00 service call by fixing it myself.

I took off the front panel removed the drum and took off the belt. I then installed new belt on drum then motor. Then installed the front panel.

After ordering the part, I read the information left by other users. I used a screw driver to pop out the piece, and then put the new latch in the opening. A gentle pop with the side of my hand, and the door latch went right into place. Who knew there was a second door latch on the other side that could've been used?

found thermal fuse and checked continuity had none so fuse was bad. ordered new one from parts select correct fuse came quickly installed new one and dryer works like new.

Turn off dryer 220V breaker at panel. Remove front kick panel (two 5/16 hex screws at lower corners). Check continuity of high limit thermal fuse with meter; no continuity: fuse blown. Remove two wire clips with pliers. Remove fuse with nut driver (two 1/4 hex screws). Install new fuse. Replace two wires. Replace kick panel with two screws. Reset breaker at panel. Reset, start timer: dryer has heat.
