the plastic fan can be tricky to get off,hold the pully side of motor with an adjustable wrench and turn plastic nut on fan clockwise.mine busted and i had to order another fan but they are easy to put on. counter clockwise to put back on.(reverse treads)

It was so easy! I simply fit the gasket into the groove where the old one had been. Didn't even need any tools.

My dryer is probably more than 20 years old. I know, I know, but I decided to fix it anyway. I followed the same steps as the other posters here. However, I almost never fix anything like this and the dryer is in a small space with only a couple of inches of clearance on either side.
The repair took 10 hours off and on over 2 days. You will definitely need another set of hands at various times like when you are unscrewing the fan from the motor shaft and when you are reinstalling the drum and belt.
Getting the motor mount clips off the frame was a huge pain and getting the motor back in place and the clips on correctly was a 3 hour learning experience. Make sure you have all the wires hooked back up BEFORE you hook up the motor mount clips. When you seat the motor on the mounts the wiring hookups need to be almost on the bottom. Check the instructions drawing for placement.
You don’t actually remove the fan cover you just unscrew the mounting screws and push it to the side.
Re-hooking up the belt and belt tightener is not intuitive but you will eventually figure it out. I found some generic dryer belt installation drawings on the Internet that showed me how to do it.
The photocopied instructions that come with the motor are kind of fuzzy after a few generations of photocopying.
In the end, it worked! It is also much quieter now.

I removed the back before I relized that the motor was under the drum. I removed the front and the drum and accessed the motor. I used a small flat head screw driver to prythe brackets that held th motor in place. I had a bit of a problem removing the motor from the fan. Then I read the web site and figured out that the treading was a LEFT thread. Still had some problems and ended up removing the pully wheel and using a pipe wrench to get the fan off the motor.

I wish I had taken a picture of the pully and belt to see how it went back together, but it went back easy enough.

Very pleased with my effort and guess I saved about $300 bucks on the repair, and the 2 plus weeks to get the guy to my house.

Removed and replaced motor. In the process of removing old motor, the blower wheel had to be unscrewed from the rear shaft of the motor, in order to remove the motor. In my case, the blower wheel had seized up on the rear shaft and could not be unscrewed. It had to be cut off and it also had to be replaced. The dryer now works fine. Tip: I watched an internet video (repairclinic.com)about the procedure before I started. Very helpful!

I read several customer feedback articles to find one with problem similar to mine. After eliminating the thermal fuse, it was obvious my motor was bad. Watched the video and easily removed motor. Took motor to a repair shop and they confirmed it was bad. Replacement motor arrived in two days (yes...2 days). Unbelievable quick delivery. Easy to reinstall---only took about an hour. Hey, it would have cost $500-$600 to replace this dryer! Now I feel like I have a new dryer for $80!

Replaced the cap over the door switch so when the door closed the switch was engaged

First I removed the rear panel of the control sectio and the main rear panel. I checked the switches and fuses. The fuse for the dryer vent was giving an intermittent signal, so I replaced it with one I picked up at a local repair shop.
Since I had started working on it, and due to the age, I went ahead and ordered a motor, belt, and drum rollers and replaced these as preventive maintenance.
Once you realize how everything comes apart, it is not a very dificult job to overhaul the complete dryer.

I took the back off of the dryer and then removed the lint chute assembly. Next came the top removal which was a little tricky because the top locks were installed incorrectly from factory. After about 20 minutes for a 2 minute job, the top came off. Now I was able to remove the front and the drum. This left me access to the motor. The hardest part of the whole job was removing the blower wheel. Being made of plastic you must be careful not to brake it while grabbing hold of it and applying torque to the motor side. This process takes two people. My wife helped me and it took about 5 minutes. Leave the motor mounted for this. Once the wheel was off, the motor was then removed, the new one was installed and the process was reversed for assembly. Not very difficult overall and saved me a whole lot of money. Make sure you vacuum out all of the dust since you have the whole dryer apart. It will probably be the last time you see inside it and the dust sure builds up inside after 12 years! My husband figured this would be an easy fix....until he realized the part he had turn to remove the motor was made of plastic and was basically welded to the fan, so needless to say, we are now also replacing the fan....once the fan was loose, it was very easy to put in the new motor and fan and reassemble the dryer...good luck and watch out for those plastic moving parts!

Unpluged power cord.removed top and front pannels(after disconnecting wiring to door switch.) Removed drive belt to drum,and removed drum. Checked and marked motor wiring before disconecting from motor.Removed motor,After unscrewing the blower from shaft.(Had to remove jumper wire from motor)Reinstalled the blower and secured the motor,reconect wires to motor.(rechecked wiring connections)Put back the drum,drive belt,and the front door pannel.(reconect door switch wiring)then the top pannel.Plug in the power cord and checked opertion.....WORK'S JUST FINE! I ordered the replacement motor on a sunday,and the new motor was setting on my kitchen table tueday afternoon when i got home. Great job" PARTSELECT."

Googled dryer won't start! From information on the Parts Select website, I determined it was possibly the dryer door switch. Checked the dryer to confirm status of door switch and found it broken! Ordered part and received it within 2 days (actually ordered on a Sunday and it shipped on Monday with receipt on Wednesday. Unpluged the dryer. Used information from Parts select website to remove two screws from vent filter, used screwdriver to pop the top of dryer at each front corner, removed two long screws from the old switch and replaced the broken actuator on the switch with the new actuator received from Parts Select. Note: It was easier to remove old switch with the wires removed from terminals (just pull off), replacing the wires after securing the switch and actuator back in place. Piece of cake, wife happy, received her king of the roost reward :>)) This is also a good time to clean the lint filter area and the hoses to prevent one of those 16,000 annual dryer fires!!!

Reviewed the video showing how to remove the bad-order part and install the new part. No problem. Installing the new part was exactly what was shown in the video on the web page.
