DWU9962AAB Maytag Dishwasher - Instructions

Took out the pins that hold the detergent cup on, beginning with the side without the spring. Make sure you check how the side with the spring is installed before you take it out. If it's not done right when you put the new one on the lid won't spring open. Then installed the new detergent cup lid. Easy as pie and it would have cost $50 to just have someone come out to look at it and this cost $12. Can't beat that!

I followed the directions in the dishwasher manual how to remove the top rack of the dishwasher, basically removing the stops on each side, and I set the rack on the counter. I replaced both sides even though one had not yet broken. To replace the part, 5 screws had to be removed; I used an allen wrench. The replacement location of the part was pretty obvious once the screws were removed. The inside of the plastic piece that was opened in the process of removing the defective part was dirty so I took some time to clean that out before attaching the new part. The actual unscrewing and attaching the new part probably took 10 or 15 minutes per side. It took a few tries to get the height adjusting lever to move freely before I tightened the screws. The rack works great now.

Replacing my dishwasher racks was very easy. I followed the guidance on the PartsSelect.com website for replacing the upper rack. Replacing the lower rack was only challenging when I couldn't figure out how to remove the water sprayer from the old rack and place it in the new rack. A quick search on Google.com and I learned to turn the sprayer counter-clockwise to remove it and then clockwise to put it in the new rack. Worked like a charm! I would recommend PartsSelect.com to anyone. Easy to use, parts came quickly, and I appreciated the guidance from others.

removed old damaged tines and snapped new tines into place. Saved myself some cash, received the product in less then 5 days and did not have to drive over to the appliance store in the next town and wait two weeks for them to place the order and at a substantial savings. Turned off power to machine t breaker. Open door and removed inside cover of door by reoving screws along edge. Removed panel over door switch. Unpluged old switch and pluged newswitch in. Replacd pannel and inside door cover. Turned power back on and washed dishes.

It was difficult to use the guide provided online to determine what position to place the spring in. Finally I realized that the spring had to be placed with the tip that sticks out against the wall of the dishwasher to make the spring action work. The long and short pins were not a problem. How to place the spring was the main problem, but I finally figured it out. I did not need any special tools to accomplish this. I just used a kitchen knife to push the short pin into place.

I unscrewed the parts of the washing tower, then removed the housing and filters above the impeller. Lastly I removed and replaced the impeller and "o" ring. This repair went fine. Unfortunately another part (blower) let go and I decided not invest any more time or money into this machine since it was so old.

Was extremely easy to remove that existing rackings(upper and lower), install the new racks and snap in the new spray tower. It now looks like we have a new dishwasher. We are hoping that it will last another 10+ years.

Removed the inner door panel-Removed the black cowling covering the timer and wires.
Removed the swicth assembly and installed new part.
Reassembled dishwasher.

I checked the operation of the two switches. One switch did not click, when button was pushed, as cleanly as the other. There was a bit of delay and play in the button when depressed, even sticking a bit.

I took off the front bottom panel for an easy access. The valve is located on the left. Shut off water to the dishwasher. Remove the bracket that holds the valve. Remove hoses and 2 wires on the valve switch. Install new valve by revesing the steps above.

turn off breaker
turn off water supply line
note wire color locations on notepad
disconnect 2 spade lugs (pliers)
disconnect inlet line (adj. wrench)
disconnect outlet line (pliers on hose clamp)
remove old valve assembly (4 screws w/nutdriver)
remove ground jumper from old valve
remove inlet pipe ell from old unit (vise & pliers)
clean open end of pipe ell (file)
apply teflon dope tape to pipe threads
install pipe ell on new valve
reorient solenoid 90degrees cw to match Maytag installation
reinstall ground jumper
install new valve assembly in dishwasher
reconnect hose and hose clamp
reconnect inlet line
reconnect spade lugs
turn on supply line, check for leaks
turn on breaker
start washer at appropriate cycle to test water flow
done!

Piece of cake. I panicked for a minute before I realized that there was a threaded brass 90 in the inlet valve. It looked like it was the wrong part for a minute. Once I got the 90 reinstalled in the new valve, I had it back together in 10 minutes. It seems to be working better.

The replacement part was the perfect size but the threading on the terminal ends was increases to 1/2" v the 7/16" from the previous element. My first attempt was to find a similar type of part at the local hardware store(not a superstore)since I planned to replace the grommets anyway. After not having any success, I came home and modified the fasteners by slowly drilling out the id of the fasteners until they threaded properly. The time to replace after the drill out was less than 10 min and the ~$45.00 is significantly less than $450.00 for a new unit.
If I would ask anything of part select, it would be to include fastening hardware as re-engineering of products is a continual process.

popped out the spray arm snap retainer that held in the upper spray arm and pushed the new snap retainer into the new upper spray arm to complete the job. I thought I must have done something wrong because it only took about a minute.

Removed and dismantled the pump assembly and found the impeller shaft was broken. Found the correct part number, ordered the part and it works like a charm. Assembly reverse of disassembly. Replaced the pump gasket and outer door panel(dent)as well. Great store!
