However, two are needed for the device. A flat head screwdriver or a putty knife may be needed for the removal. Otherwise, no tools should be needed for the installation.

Muffler Insert

This is a spring for your sander. It is known as a conical spring because it is cone shaped, and coiled. It is comparable to a compression spring because it stores energy by absorbing shock, and then releasing it, to maintain the force between two surfaces. The spring is a part of the muffler assembly in your sander. The muffler assembly reduces the noise coming from your machine. Over time the spring may lose tension and need replacing. If you are replacing your muffler assembly, or similar parts, we also recommend replacing the spring for an even wear.
