the old knobs were brittle from cleaning and shattered.
I took off the remaining cracked pieces that were left on each knob stem, and removed the tiny clip still in the center with the needle nose. Then just replaced them with the new ones by pushing them on. I had to very lightly squeeze the stem slot together a little as the new knob would not go on, because the old clip had spread it some. Hope this helps.
