Disconnected power supply, removed front panel, removed tub support bracket, removed electrical lines from light and door switch( to have better access to install front guide kit), removed belt, removed drum, removed old rollers, installed new rollers and rest of installation was in reverse order of taking machine apart. In order to install the front guide kit(which I've never done before), I had to watch the installation instructions via you-tube. This was a tremendous aide as the instructions were simple and very adequate.
Were these instructions helpful?
As per the repair videos on the site, I searched the internet for a couple of supplementary videos just to make sure I was doing it correctly. It was was all pretty easy. Expect to vacuum out and clean out the interior of the dryer. Also, to make things easier, disconnect the bulkhead and exterior like in the video, but also keep the top flipped up until reassembling, it'll make it much easier. When reinstalling the belt, remember how the belt is going to go around the pulley, you'll have to do this without sight as the barrel will the way and you won't be able to see what you're doing. It's really not hard but just keep this in mind. Also, as you disassembling, it would help to snap some pictures of where each screw goes and how; reassembly was a tiny bit tricky as I didn't do this.
Followed youtube tutorials, pretty straightforward. Take pictures of where wires connect for door switch, light, et al. Have a shop-vac handy to vacuum all the dust, lint, dog hair, etc that's accumulated over the years inside the unit.My spreader c-clip pliers were not small enough to fit in the holes of those tiny c-clips,had to improvise.Used steel wool to polish all roller shafts, Before re-installing drum and belt, orient yourself to this procedure by practicing threading belt properly before positioning the drum in your way!
removed dryer, set up on roll around work bench, watched your repair video, took my time and cleaned with air compressor and shop vac. did it all in standing position.
Followed the Video Directions from website. All went as planed. The dryer is running like new now.
Watched 2 YouTube videos. 1. How to take apart a dependable care dryer. 2. How to replace a belt on a maytag dryer. We replaced all the parts. It was eeasy. When putting dryer back together make sure felt is straight. We did have to take it apart again there was felt sticking out inside the dryer and it caused the drum to not spin. Everything works great. And Thank you parts select. I received the right parts in 2 days without paying extra. I will use you again.
First thing was to watch this video on Youtube on the take down of this dryer and determine what caused the malfunction.
Unplug dryer!! Remove two screws, pop front face off. Took picture of wires connecting dryer front. Disconnect two wires, set door aside. Removed four screws and removed front piece that holds drum in place. (Cleaned all the lint out while it was off.) Checked where the belt location was on drum, (should have taken a pic). Carefully removed drum. Removed both rollers and put new ones on. I did not replace the belt at this time, it was still in good shape. Replace drum, be sure the belt is in correct place. It will not work if it is in wrong area of drum. Replace everything, be careful to not lose a screw!
followed applianceparts video on youtube, although dryer somewhat different(older) ....video made the repair happen...
Replaced the wheels at the back and also the belt. ( I also removed the lint buildup around the drum felt and on the heating chamber and motor. That alone helped the noise problem. I did this prior to ordering parts, as I had taken it apart to see what the problem might be.)I don't have any additions to what I saw in the repair video. That video showed me all I needed to do. Great video. First time the dryer has been worked on since it was purchased in about 1984. We were a family of 6, so its good stuff.
