How to test high limit thermostat
For model number De490

Hi Derrick,
Thank you for your question. To test a high limit thermostat, you will need to use a multimeter to see if it has continuity. Before removing and testing the high limit thermostat, you will need to unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet. The high limit thermostat can be found on the blower wheel housing or inside the exhaust system. With your multimeter on the Rx1 setting, test it for continuity by touching the probes to each terminal. You should receive a reading of zero or infinity. If your test does not produce either of those readings, you will need a replacement high limit thermostat. If you would like to place an order for it, customer service is open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

The heater chamber end was damaged and out off round in shipping
My neighbor was a maintenance man who was able to use his crimping tool to rework the chamber and flare the chamber to fit the heat duct to the dryer drum. Once the chamber was secured the job was simple! The videos really helped!

Dryer was extremely noisy squeeling and sqeaking
Followed installation videos and removed entire front of cabinet including door, loosened belt and removed drum. Only problem was the snap ring pliers I had were too large to fit in the holes of the drum roller snap ring. Ended up taking two 3 inch deck screws with sharp points, putting them in the snap ring holes and removing the ring by that method. Did the same when replacing it although this time, had to have my wife put a flat screwdriver against it while I pulled it apart with the screws. Rest of the repair was quite easy and dryer works great.

Replace Heater & Housing Assembly and HL Thermostat
Goggled instructions to learn how to remove old parts and install new parts. Most difficult was putting the screw in the back of the heater assembly and removing screws from old thermostat to use to install new thermostat on new heater assembly. New thermostat did not come with screws. The housing on the heating unit was too long and had difficulty getting front end of the heating unit fastened to the bottom of the dryer. Once completed, dryer working fine.

no heat from dryer
Removed the from panel from the dryer unit. Although we replaced the 4 items listed above, the main cause of the problem was the heating element thermal insulator. Upon removing the front panel and inspection we noticed the heating element was cracked/broken, Actually there were two of them, so we reordered another and replaced them both. they look like a copper screw with a collar and a ceramic head. Once these were replaced the dryer worked fine.
