Product Description

The high limit thermostat on your dyer prevents your dryer from overheating. When the dryer heats up too much, the high limit thermostat will sense it and automatically shut off the heating element. If the thermostat is malfunctioning, it will need to be replaced, to avoid more serious issues. This product is an OEM part, direct from the manufacturer.

The dryer has to run 2 cycles of 1 hour each to dry the loads

Hi Michael, thank you for your inquiry. Disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and inspect the full length of the exhaust ductwork and the exterior vent hood for any lint buildup, kinks, or crushed sections. Even partial blockage traps moisture inside the drum and dramatically extends drying time. Also, clean the lint filter and shine a flashlight into the filter housing slot to check for lint accumulation inside the blower area. Also, wipe the two metallic moisture sensor strips inside the drum near the lint trap with rubbing alcohol. Fabric softener residue builds up on these strips and causes the dryer to misread the moisture level, ending cycles early or heating irregularly. If the venting and sensors are clean, the heating element, part number FIX3527791, may have a broken coil. On electric dryers a single broken coil still produces heat but at roughly half capacity, causing the dryer to run warm but take twice as long to complete a load. Also, check the high limit thermostat, part number FIX3530481. If it is cycling the element off prematurely due to a faulty reading the dryer will struggle to maintain the heat needed to dry efficiently. Glad to be of help!

Removed screw holding vent tube, pulled vent tube out. The thermal fuse and thermostat assy are left of inside the hole on the back of the dryer where the vent tube came out. The screws are easy to take out with one hand using a phillips screwdriver. I had to use a long screwdriver because the drum was in the way with a shorter one. The s crews were pretty tight, so use a phillips with a good point, dont want to strip the screws. Because i can only get one hand in there, it was a little tricky getting the new parts lined up and starting the first screws at the same time, that took a little while but I finally got them started. If i couldnt get the first screws started i was goint to cut the bottom holes on the brackets for the parts, start the screw, slip the bracket onto the screw and then start the second screws. I used a magnetic flashlight inside the dryer, could put it in different places to see better in there. I should have put a few layers of masking tape arround the vent hole edge, its pretty sharp and when i was done i realised i had cut my arm on that edge. Dryer works again and dear Wife is happy.. I did test the old parts, thermal fuse was blown, probably because of too much lint in the flexable dryer hose, i shoulda replaced the dryer hose sooner.
