Lower Door Closing Cam
★★★★★

1 Review
Fix Number FIX11739042
Manufacturer Part Number WP2182179
The lower door closing cam raises the door to keep it from touching the refrigerator liner when the door is closed. It fits both the left and right side of the refrigerator door. The most common reasons for replacing this part are the fridge door slips down when opened, the door does not open smoothly, or does not close by itself. This original part is made of durable black plastic, is approximately 1.1 inches by 1.5 inches, and is sold individually. To effectively install this part, you will need a 5/16 nut driver and a small flat blade screwdriver. Before you begin, disconnect the power and the water supply. We suggest lubricating this part before installing. To make the repair, remove the top hinge cover, then the top hinge support. Lift the door from the bottom support and remove the old door cams. Replace the cams and put the door back on the lower hinge support. Replace the top hinge support and that completes the repair.

The door would not stay closed, the closing cams were completely worn out.
This is a very simple repair, by far the hardest part was emptying all of the condiments out of the door. After that was done I removed the top hinge cover and then the hinge. I lifted the door off of the refrigerator and set it on a card table so that it was off the ground. I took the worn cams off of the door and the refrigerator cabinet (one screw for each of them). I screwed the new cams into position and lubricated them with petroleum jelly. Then I put the door back in position and reattached the top hinge. It works perfectly again. Read more...

Light switch no longer worked
Turn off and unplug your refrigerator. I used the screwdriver on the left side of the part (where the plug is) and used the putty knife at the same time on the right side to push the spring lock portion of the part in. The part snapped out. I unplugged the left contact from the plug and put it on the new part, then I unplugged the right contact and put it on the new part. I did this so the wires would not go up into the refrigerator and be hard to find. I put the left side of the new part where the plug and contacts are in first then I snapped the right side in place. I plugged the refrigerator back in and it worked perfectly. Just take your time and gently remove and reconnect the new part. The store where I bought my refrigerator wanted $69.95 for a service call plus an hourly charge and part charge. Count on this site for your parts and do it yourself. I ordered the part on Monday, it was delivered on Tuesday around noon and I made the repair that afternoon. Read more...

Fix Number FIX11722128
Manufacturer Part Number EDR3RXD1
It is recommended to replace your refrigerator water filter every 6 months or 200 gallons of water. This will ensure consistently good-tasting water that is free of pollutants. This NSF-certified filter is designed so it is easily accessible and simple to replace. It can be found in the front, bottom panel of your appliance. Capacitor

Fix Number FIX11757023
Manufacturer Part Number WPW10662129
The capacitor, also known as a run capacitor, is a component in your fridge that allows the compressor to cycle on and off to maintain a constant temperature. If your fridge and freezer are too warm it may be necessary to replace the capacitor. Other symptoms include an unusually noisy and overheated compressor. You can check the capacitor for continuity using a multimeter. This is a genuine OEM replacement part made of black plastic that measures 1 inch by 1.5 inches. When replacing this part, be sure to check the electrical contacts on the old capacitor. If they are corroded or burnt, you will need to replace the overload relay assembly as well. Be sure to disconnect the power supply to your refrigerator before beginning this repair.

Both comparments very warm but fan working and lights on
Bought Capacitor, but I had to purchase Combo Start Up Kit that Cap goes into. The site said that 78% of the time my problem of both compartments being warm were resolved/repair by replacing Capacitor, but when the item was replaced it did not and my son looked further and found that it would then be the Combination Start Up Kit (Part# PS11740412), which starts the compressor. Thanks to this site the video used to install both parts. I was able to use the old Capacitor and I am returning the new one first purchased. Read more...

Replacement Ice Maker
★★★★★
★★★★★
6 Reviews
Fix Number FIX358591
Manufacturer Part Number 4317943
The ice maker works by filling with water from the inlet valve, freezing it into cubes, and then dispensing the cubes into the storage bucket. It will then refill with water and repeat this process until the ice storage bucket is full. If yours is not making ice or it is leaking, it may be time to replace the ice maker. Depending on usage and water quality, these should be replaced every three to ten years. Please note that this kit does not come with a new shut off arm (also known as a bail arm). You will need to reuse the arm from your old ice maker, or you can purchase a new one separately. This genuine OEM parts kit includes the replacement ice maker, wire harnesses (flat and round plug versions), and the mounting hardware. The wire harness from your old ice maker can also be reused if you choose. This model is approximately 11x5 inches in size, made of plastic and metal, and is black and silver in color. This model does not work with refrigerators that have the ice auger on the door, it is meant to sit in the upper left hand of the freezer. Please ensure that you disconnect the power and water supply before beginning this repair.

Water Filter

Fix Number FIX11722130
Manufacturer Part Number EDR4RXD1
This package contains one individual water filter that is NSF-certified, and OEM approved. To ensure that the filter is successfully removing contaminants, it will need to be replaced at least every 6 months or 200 gallons of water. This will ensure tasteless and odor-free water. It has approximate measurements of 2-1/2 inches deep, 1-1/2 inches wide, and 8 inches high. This is a simple installation. This filter is found on the interior of the refrigerator in a drop-down style housing. Pop out the old filter, slide the new filter in place and turn it until it clicks. Be careful not to over-tighten. Close the cover. Run your dispenser to activate the filter and clear out air bubbles. A loud air pressure sound is completely normal. Reset your water filter indicator if applicable.

Water Filter
Fix Number FIX11722132
Manufacturer Part Number EDR5RXD1
This ice and water filter is NSF-certified to filter out sediment, chlorine, and lead to improve the taste and odor of your water. It is recommended to change the filter every six month, or after 200 gallons of water have passed through. Replacing the filter is a simple job that does not require any tools, just be sure to shut off the ice maker beforehand. The filter is located below the fridge door in the kick plate grill, behind the round cap. Rotate the cap a quarter turn counterclockwise, so it goes from a horizontal to a vertical position. Pull the filter out giving it a wiggle if necessary to get it loose. Slide the holder cap off the old filter and place onto the new one. Remove the protective cover from the end of the filter and insert it into place, with the holder cap in the vertical position. This time make a quarter turn in the clockwise direction, so the holder is back in a horizontal position. This is a genuine OEM part that measures approximately 2.5 inches in diameter and 10.5 inches long.
