The bi-metal defrost thermostat is attached to the evaporator, and its purpose is to protect the evaporator from overheating when the defrost cycle is running. If there is frost building up in your freezer, or it gets too warm during the defrost cycle, there may be an issue with the thermostat. You can use a multimeter to determine if it is the thermostat or the heater itself that is faulty. If you do need to replace the thermostat, this is a genuine OEM part. As this repair requires some electrical work, please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before starting this project. You will need a Phillips screwdriver, a 1/4-inch nut driver, a flat blade screwdriver, wire strippers, electrical tape, and butt splice connectors in order to complete this repair.

This genuine OEM part is a thermostat assembly for your fridge. This part acts as a sensor to detect temperature changes in the evaporator. When the defrost cycle is running and the ice has melted, the thermostat detects the temperature increase and shuts the cycle off. You may need to replace the thermostat assembly if your fridge or freezer is too warm, the temperatures fluctuate constantly, or the units continuously runs, or will not run at all. You can use a multimeter to check if the thermostat is faulty and needs to be replaced. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before beginning this repair.
