GSL9365EQ1 Whirlpool Washer - Instructions

First I removed the two screws on the back side of the switch panel and tilted it back to expose the controls. I then pryed up the top of the washer to expose the lid switch. This was a mistake because I damaged the clips and bent the metal frame. Anyway after that I unlatched the lid switch on the top side, pulled it through the bottom, removed two screws holding the lid switch in place and replaced the switch and lid switch strike. Because I wrecked the machine top I had no alternative but to drill two holes from the top and put two screws in to hold the top down. It's ugly but it works.
The best part of all this is I received the part so fast that I was able to keep up the pace of doing laundry with no interruption. Thanks for being so reliable and quick to deliver. I already told many people about your service!

I pulled back off machine. A real pain. Not something you have to do although once the back is off, the whole cabinet just lifts off. Idealy: Remove agitator and reatiner clip, lay washer on it's side or face, Remove electrical connector form motor, remove two hoses from pump, (motor can be remove easily from transmission if desired. It's lighter), remove three 1/2" bolts, lift transmission w/clutch assembly out. Pay attention to orientation of flat washer and clip (remove). The cluch band is indside the silver cover. Pich together with pliers to relieve tension and lift out. There are three while pads that wear away and glaze over when they get too hot from slipping. Reassemble. Ths is from memory so I hope I didn't forget anything. Time to do it this way would probably only be 45 minutes.

First off it was much easier after watching the video that was on PartSelect website. It was a very good description of how to do the repair. The main thing is to have enough room to be able to move the washer around and be able to get around it.. Our washer and dryer are in our 1/2 bath so we had to completely unhook the dryer to move it out of the way to have room to work around the washer.. It was still a tight squeeze but it was pretty quick and easy once we got the area where the lid switch is attached. The only trouble we had was putting the front of the washer back on the tub correctly. That was mainly in part with not having enough room to move around. It was easy enough that is was worth saving the service call from the repairman. The most help was watching the video. Thanks PartSelect for your help.

The reason it took as long as it did was because the job is not in line as the work I normally do.
It would be a fairly easy job for an experienced repairman. (Taking the back off the washer was time consuming for me) The rest of the job was easy as the part was a perfect fit.
I remember having a problem blending hot/cold water for some time. Most recently, while washing a load the water did not want to shut off. I can't remember how I diagnosed the water not shuting off as a problem along with the water temp control, but it is now repaired.
With the new valve installed, water temp select is now OK and the water now shuts off as normal.

While my friends were visiting, they broke the knob off my washer. Now I am no good at repairs of any type, so my initial reaction was to get a new washer. Instead I went on the website and found a new knob. The website made it easy to match model numbers and get the exact knob. I got it in the mail ASAP and I just pushed it on. This may not sound like an impressive repair story but trust me, it was a lot for me. I saved myself $400.

After taking the entire washer apart one time, we learned that we could take the top and front of the machine off only to repair it. I found Part-select online and with the model number locating the part was easy. It arrived within 3 days and with instructions I could easily replace the old part with a few tools. I spent dollars instead of hundreds for a new machine.

First I went to this site and read what everyone had to say on leaking pumps. After finding the model number, I looked at the parts list, and found what parts I thought I would need. First I shut off the water and unpluged the washer Replacing the water pump was very easy after reading what other people had done. I pulled the washer out from the wall about 18 inches and tilted back on a 45 degree angle. The pump was now in plain sight and helt in with two slide clamps. Using a pair of plyers I remover both clamps from both hoses on the pump. By pushing to the outside of the pump I was able to remove both of the slide clamps. This allows the pump to be lifted out and off the motor shaft. As my washer had just started leaking " about one week" the pump slid off the shaft easy. There was no rust on shaft. Pump shaft has a slot in it so the pump can only go on one way. By reversing the way I removed the pump I was able to slide the new pump back onto the shaft and slide the slip clamps back over the pump. Replacing both hoses and both clamps. Now pump was in place. I pulled the washer away from the wall and slid back into place. That took care of the pump. For the top side I removed the top part of the agitator by pulling up and removing the part that holds the softner. Under this was a piece of plastic that I was able to lift out. Under that was a 12MM bolt with a rubber washer. Using a scoket set I removed the bolt and washer. Lifting up on the agitator it came right out. Pulling on each end of the agitator I was able to pull it apart. Inside was a large plastic washer and agitator directional cogs all in one piece. This piece just lifts up and off. I replaced the old piece with the new on and slid the two agitator back togeather. Setting the agitator back into the washer and put the 12mm bold and rubber washer back on. Then I put the plastic back on and set the top softer cup back in place. Snapping in the bleach dispenser was very easy, just shap into place. Pluging the washer back in, and turning back on the water I ran the washer with no clothes in it so I could check for leaks and make sure everthing was working. Repairing both parts took about 30 minutes and now the washer is like new.

Followed some very handy instructions I found on the web.

First unplug machine and next back off the screws in the back of the plastic end caps holding down the control panel.
Then slip a putty knife under each of the front corners to release the panel so it can flip back
exposing the lid switch wiring harness clip connector.
Release the lid switch clip connector from the wiring harness.
Next release the two brass colored clips that hold the top to the sides.
Remove sides.
Remove screws holding lid switch and unclip switch from back of top nd from under top .
Remove switch and replace with new one.
Reverse order reassembly making sure the four base tabs of the sides are in the four slots in the machine base frame.
Reinstall brass clips.
Make sure new switch is clipped to the control panel harness.
Screw down corner screws in control panel end caps.
Done.

Washing machine is in a closet - tight space - was able to disconnect switch panel following other instructions, 2 screws on back, vertical // 2 screws near top corner on back, horizontal.

Pulled switch box off, could not get top sheet of washer off though, needed to detach side panel from back panel and lean the washing machine exterior panels fwd, and reach in from the back to disconnect the swicth ground, then pulled the lines, and disconnected the switch.

Then while still leaning the unit fwd, reconnected the ground for the new switch assemply, got it in the small clips leading back to control panel, fed the switch back into the control panel and reconnected.

Then, leaned unti back into place and got the panels lined up again, reset the control box, fiddles with the s clamps, and just tightened up the 4 screws.

Done.

I repaired my Kenmore washing machine replacing the clutch, Motor coupling and cogs. All of the parts came quickly and with good instructions. Best of all there were links to youtube repair walkthroughs. With out these step by step instructions this project would have taken much longer. Now the washer is like new! WATCH THE YOUTUBE PAUSE DO THE STEP AND REPEAT

Disconnet the washer from supply lines. pull washer out, tip on side. Remove water hoses from pump, have to squeeze hose clamps with pliers and slide them down the hose. Then remove the hoses from the pump. Then locate spring retainers that hold pump to drive motor, place flat blade screw driver under each clip and pry clip loose, then remove pump.
Install new pump on shaft, making sure that alignment dowels line up with holes on pump. Hold pump in place and using finger push retainer clips over lip of pump, install hoses on pump, install hose clamps. Hook washer up to supply lines, drain lines, plug in and you'r done.

Unplug power from wall.
Disconnected water lines
Tip Unit on it's side. (Recommend turning so motor is to the top side)
Disconnect Electrical connector and Hoses from the pump and motor.
Disconnect metal straps used to retain the motor to the transmission. (screwdriver to pry)
Remove old coupling pieces from transmission/motor(used a long screw driver, rock back and forth)
used air compressor to clean up electric motor
replace new coupling on motor and transmisison (may need hammer to tap into place)
set rubber bushing on transmission side (transmission shaft should be facing up at this point)
replace electric motor into place, making sure to line up bushing and motor mounts.
replace metal strap connectors between transmission / motor (this can be tricky, as the one in the back is hard to get at.)
replace electrical connectors and hoses
connect washing machine power and water and test

Removed capscrew in end of agitator shaft took cover off machine-[ unscrewed two screws holding down control panel, hinged back, pryed retaining clips out, rocked back machine cover.]
Removed motor mounting clips and pump hoses, swinging motor and pump out of the way. Removed 3 capscrews holding transmission, pulled transmission towards me removing agitator shaft, disassembled clutch assembly - removing one cirlip then another, installed new clucth parts in same order

First I removed the softener bin by pulling it up and off, then I removed the plastic seal by pulling it up and out, then I removed the 1/2 inch bolt with a ratchet and extension, then I removed the upper and lower agitator assembly from the machine and seperated the two by putting my feet on the lower agitator to hold it to the floor and pulling the upper agitator fast and firmly.
Sitting on top of the lower agitator I found the dog ear assembly. I pulled the dog ear assembly off and removed the yellow cap and existing dog ears.
Assembly was reverse.
