open lid pop cap off top of agitator remove sealing cap unscrew bolt pull off top of agitator may need to work it back and forth reach in pull out dogs holder replace and grease then reasimble

The retainer was broken and likely because the washer was worn down and allowed the whole thing to move more and more over time. Got the exact parts I needed and the repair could not have been easier.

I took the top off of the agitator, Just down inside was a plastic cover, removed it.Then I used a nutdriver and removed a 7/16 bolt. then the top part of the agitator lifts up and you can get at the cogs. remove old cogs and install new ones. put agitator back on, put bolt back in put plastic cap inside, finnaly plastic cap on top and your done.

The repair was simple and quick. only one bolt had to be removed to remove the agitator. I replaced the cogs. In less than 15 minutes to washing machine was as good as new.

I just unscrewed the top agitator cap and slid the o-ring on and put it back. Done in seconds.

found 4 soft plastic clutch cams [cogs] worn out.

paid $6 in shipping and waited 4 days.
reassembled without problem and restored uni- directional agitation on upper section agitator

Removed both caps, used extended socket arm and removed bolt - replaced cogs and reassembled- very easy fix although cogs had to be secured with some petroleum jelly to keep them from slipping out of housing during assembly

Removed the fabric softener distribution container from top of the agitator,(by pulling up on the green ring ), with a flat blade screwdriver I removed cap from the top of the top half of the agitator. Then with a 7/16 socket and a short extension I removed the bolt holding the agitator in place, placing the agitator in the floor and hold it down I pulled the top half off,removed the black retainer ring to expose the directional cogs, removed old one's replaced with the new one's and to re-install I reversed the procedure.

My wife told me she thought the washing machine wasn't "moving" the clothes around. I looked and noticed that the top of the agitator wasn't working (just sitting idle). I looked up a diagram of the machine online, took a rachet and socket and removed the top of the agitator, lifted up off the lower part, took it apart, removed the old worn out dogbones, and replaced with new ones. Put it all back together and it works great. Easy job.

This had happened before about 8-9 years ago, (my washer is about 19 years old), so I knew how to replace the little plastic cogs. When I ordered them before from a different company they took ages to get here. This time I used PartSelect, and they were here the next day!! I was amazed at the level of service, and will definitely use you again and will recommend to others! Putting the parts in was pretty easy...even for a woman!

I pulled the fabric softener off the top agitator then removed a cap,but you have to used a socket set to remove the screw then pull the agitator up and turn it upside drown to remove the directional cogs it takes about 8 minutes.

It was a very simple repair. I removed the fabric softener dispenser by pulling on it. Then I took out the plastic cover. Next, I used a socket set to remove the nut holding the agitator to the base of the washing machine. Take off the top part of the agitator (if the bottom part comes off with the top just hold down the bottom and pull until the top comes off). Remove the old cogs and replace with the new ones. Reassemble everything back in reverse order.

First i removed the fabric softner dispenser. then i pulled out the clear cover inside. then removed the cogs ( 4 little plastic heads) replaced with new ones and put everthing back together.
