This was really easy to me.
1. I removed the 2 screws holing the top on.
2. Carefully lifted and removed the top cover of the dryer.
3. Removed the two screws holding the front of the dryer.
4. Pulled the front of the dryer back being careful not to separate the wiring and set it up against the wall.
5. Removed the old bearing (which was totally destroyed).
6. Cleaned up all the old lint and build up off everything.
7. Attached the new bearing after installing the slides.
8. Resembled the part by reversing the above process.
9. NO more screeching, works perfectly.

This cost me a total of $50.00, (I used next day delivery)was completed in 3 days. If I had called my home assurance company it would have cost me $55.00 plus they would have come out, viewed the problem, orders the parts and 10 days later I would have had it fixed. What a waste of my time!

I removed the two screws inside the door and popped the top loose. I took the top off to see and have access to the interior. I leaned the front out and inserted the belt around the drum (with my wife's help), replaced the screws and laid the dryer on it's face on a rolled up blanket and proceeded to run the belt around the pulleys (two). The drive pulley was easy but the idler pulley, not so easy. I had to figure out how the pulley arm was supposed to provide tension on the belt. I figured it out by looking at the diagram. It was then I found the idler pulley was broken and fell apart in my hand. I advise that a new pulley be installed at the same time as the belt. Everything I read on your web site helped.

Open up the unit's lid first and then removed the front panel. Then I removed the broken belt and then routed the new belt around drum, through the belt tensioner, and onto to the motor pulley. I checked to make sure the belt was securely in place and if it would rotate the drum. Once I was positive it was in place I put the dryer panels back together, plug in the dryer, and tested operation. The only thing that was difficult was trying to figure out the routing of the belt through the tensioner because the old belt wasn't in place anymore. In all it was a 45 minute job.

First I got the front bearing, found out I needed the slides too. It was binding at first, so I undid an earlier misadjustment I made (on the back drum mount). and it works!

This is the 2nd time in 3 years I had to do this repair. There needs to be a better design. I suggest that when you hear squeeking that you replace the teflon pcs fast so you don't have to replace the drum bearing.
Now for the repair. Take dryer door off (4 screws) it makes the repair easier. There is 2 long screws that hold the top to the front of the dryer. Once removed you can pull out the top of the front of dryer and it unhooks from the bottom. I suggest using the vacuum and clean thoroughly while you have it apart. Unplug the wire for the light (3 wires) so you can completely remove the front of the dryer. The drum bearing snaps out (after you remove the light bulb). Insert 4 new teflon pcs into new drum bearing before re-attaching to dryer. Plug the wires back in and put the light bulb back in. Hook the bottom to the dryer and make sure bearing goes areound drum when putting back on. Put 2 long screws back in to attach the top to the front. Re-attach door and your job is done. You should not have to disconnect dryer from gas but you should unplug dryer. This is a very easy repair. I don't know why they call this part a drum bearing when there is no bearings involved at all.

Just like the other stories, remove the top and front of the dryer, replace the bearing and slides (or slides only if needed). I ordered only the slides, but also needed the bearing because I didn't realize the drum had worn through the bearing already.

Initially purchased just the plastic slides, but when I opened the dryer I found the top drum bearing was smashed and the plastic was basically gone in a whole section, so I then ended up ordering the bearing as well. If you hear the loud squeaking, just buy the top drum bearing and the 4 slides (two white and two dark green). It is an easy repair and the squeaking sound is gone.

First I unplugged the dryer then removed the two screws just inside the door along the upper edge. Top comes right off then there is a screw holding the front on at each side. Removed the front, popped off the old drum bearing, put on the new one. The four drum slides, which you need all four are placed at the top edge of the bearing two on each upper side. Vacuumed out the inside of the dryer, reassembled and runs like new!

I removed the 2 screws that held the top on. They are located inside the door on the upper lip. I then removed the 2 screws that held the front of the dryer in place. From there I leaned the front against my leg and the drum bearing just snapped off and the new one snapped into place. I replaced the front drum slides easily. They just slip into place. I put everything back together and it is now quiet. Very easy.

Our dryer was making an ear piercing high pitched squeal. I didn't know what it was, but through a quick search on this site determined that the Drum Bearin and Drum slides must be out. I ordered the items and they quickly arrived. I followed the skeematic of the dryer that they had on the site and it ended up being one of the easiest "do-it yourself" fix jobs I have been involved with in a long time. I will definitely come back to this site when I have future appliance issues.
By the way, I am an accountant by trade and have no previous appliance fixing skills.

I took off the dryer top and saw it was the slides went on line found PartsSelect, found my dryer, ordered the parts and had them within two days and it took me about 15 minutes to fix the dryer which will add about 3-4 years more life on it. Thank You PartsSelect My wife is even happier
