WNCD2050A0WC General Electric Washer - Instructions

I decided without see exactly where the water was coming from to replace the pump and all the drain or inlet hoses, connectors, whatever carried water due to the age of the machine, almost 17 years old. I also decide to change the tub seal.
1. unplug
2. disconnect water supply
3. remove back of washer
4. laid washer on its front on a rug
5. removed the drain and filler hoses (3) different hoses and all new clamps
6. closed up everything, hooked up everything ran short cycle

WHEN THE PUMP STARTED SO DID THE WATER POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE WASHER, MORE THAN BEFORE I CHANGED OUT THE PARTS

I decided the tub seal was leaking. It was a logical decision and it was the last part that carried water that I didn't change.
1. remove front panel
2. remove top panel
3. remove electrical connection inside pane and remove entire top panel
4. remove agitator and agitator cup
5. remove top ring that hold inner liner
6. here is the problem, a special tool is required to remove the tub seal nut or a 1-11/16" socket that I didn't have
7. tried a new pipe wrench and rust buster taking care that the nut is soft metal
8. decided to purchase the correct tool(socket) and put everything back together to do two weeks worth of laundry
I left the front panel off to pinpoint where the water leaks was and when the pump started there was no leak in the washer. However, water was pouring across the floor.
I found that the house drain pipe was cracked on the top and back. This was on the outlet side of the trap. I would have never suspected the drain (PVC) with no stress or load on it to crack across the top of the pipe.
So anyway, $240 later for washer parts and $6.47 for a new piece of PVC I no longer have a problem, wrong!
Started a load of laundry and the washer will only fill for a small load.
1. Removed the front panel
2. removed the tube to the fill switch thinking there was water in it that's making the switch think its full when its not, NO WATER.
3. Shot air in the tube and made sure the switch clicked audibly
4 Started the washer with the fill switch tube off and waited for waited for water to start flowing out and then hooked up the tube and it shut off the water with a full load. Everything worked.
Tub seal still not changed but no leaks.

The first thought regarding the light rumble during the spin cycle is that the bearing was going bad. Many of the other inputs on replacing the bearing included the problem with removal of the Hub Nut. Only one article noted a set of assembly instruction for the washer is clipped onto the upper rear panel behind the control knobs, but I did not see this comment until later. Not being sure where to start with diassembling the washer, I began by taking off the control panel and to my pleasant surprise I found a neatly folded set of detailed instructions. Following the instructions, I proceeded to quickly disassemble the washer until I got to the HUB NUT. The Hub Nut is an aluminum, 1 -11/16 inch, left hand threaded problem. My tool selection is somewhat limited, so after unsuccessfully attaching it with grippers and vice grips, supported with the liberal aid of a rubber mallet and plenty of WD40, I went looking for something with which I could a better grip on the hub nut. The grippers and vice grips would slide a bit when hit with the mallet. Also since the space is very restricted, a large wrench could not be used. I located a 9-inch pipe wrench, and with the rubber mallet the Hub Nut finally loosened after just a few hits. I replaced the old bearing which appeared to be in fair condition. While replacing the bearing has not solved my noise problem, I thought that my experience with the pipe wrench benefit someone else in their efforts to get the hub nut off without using a chisel.

Take off front. Take off top. Pull off agitator. Pull off agitator coupler, after removing bolt holding in place. Attempt to remove hub nut, no joy. Wound up cutting the nut with a Dremel tool and chiseling the nut off. Closer inspection revealed a bad transmission. Due to the cost of the transmission, we will continue to use the machine until it completely fails.

Main thing is watch the video. It may vary a little according to the age of your appliance, as it did with me but common sense guides. The difference was minor on my part. Two hex head screws to remove per strap and they had to make them 1 size different. Go figure. Have your change handy. A ratchet nut driver will save you some time.

I just watchied the clip on the website during the day about how to fix it, went home that night and fixed it.

***Partselect.com had my ordered part delivered within 3 days.*** First, I pulled up on agitator and removed it. Then, loosened bolt on coupling and removed it. Replaced with new coupling, placed and tightened new longer bolt that came with new coupling. Replaced agitator and started laundry.

I first placed a rope under the fins of the agitator and used a 2X4 board to pull up the agitator which needed very little force to release itself from the agitator coupling. I removed the nut holding the agitator coupling, removed the stripped agitator coupling. Installation was just the reverse process, inserted the new agitator coupling, placed and tightened the screw, and pressed down the agitator over the agitator coupling and I was done. Over time for the repair was between 5 and 10 minutes, very easy, and I have no experience repairing washing machines.

I put my fingers under the agitator and pull up , this pulled it off the couplier, then I used a 11mm wrench to remove the bolt that holds the couplier in place and pulled the couplier off, the new couplier didnt arrive until after I went to work but my wife had it all back together when I got back home,I told her what to do and she said it only took about 10 mins. to get together, very easy.

After receiving the wrong part 2x instead of magnet assy I received a metal clip ring. ordererd magnet assy from another source. iNSTALLATION IS VERY SIMPLE. REMOVE 2 SCEWS IN THE LID WHICH HOLD THE MAGNET IN PLACE AND REPLACE THE MAGNET WITH NEW ONE. TEST TO MAKE SURE ALL OPERATIONS ARE NORMAL.

I was going to replace the washer. .. I am a cabinet maker and pretty good at what I do. I have to admit before seeing the video I was out of my comfort zone with this repair. I was shown not only the part needed and that you folks had the part in your inventory on hand. I was pleased to see how inexpensive it was $7.40. I had it shipped for $8.70. I am a mother of 3 so a washing machine is vital. I called various appliance repair places and was quoted anywhere from $50 - $85 just to come and look at it. I did some online research and discovered that the part itself was less than $7. After paying for 2-day shipping, my total was under $20. I thought, what do I have to lose. I received the coupling kit and read the EASY instructions. I had already removed the old one so by the time I received the new one, it took me less than 10 minutes. WOW!! I now have a working washer!! .THINK AGAIN!!

I removed the center piece in the washer by pulling up on it, removed the retaining bolt and the agitator coupling.

Installation reverse of removal...no problems. The spline on the inside of the agitator coupling was worn out.

I never would have though about it until I searched the problem on line. I had already decided that I would have to buy a new washer (again)...I had a pressure switch problem about 6 months ago.
