W146-C Jenn-Air Wall Oven - Instructions

Replaced oven gasket and both oven hinges. Repairs did not work. Oven door is actually worst. Do not waste your time replacing the oven hinges unless they are actually broken. When to Ace hardware and bought a package of 3 super magnets for about $10. Practice placing the magnets on metal strip on outside of the actual oven vs the oven door. This metal strip is not galvanized for which the oven cleaning latch goes through. Appeared to solve the problem. I then used epoxy glue to insure the super magnets would permanently stay in place. These are dangerous magnets that must be kept away from children and pets. You will spend more time separating these magnets from each other than gluing them in place. This part I will let you figure out but the only way to separate the 3 magnets from each other is the slide them, one at a time, from each other. Now I am awaiting 4 to 6 hours for the epoxy to cure. In my 26 year old oven the screws to remove the element were extremely difficult to remove, but with 6-10 applications of Liquid Wrench and brute strength we finally did. We were a bit concerned with the insulation that was protruding but used electrical tape to secure the wires to the leads for good measure. All was successfull. I love my Jenn-Aire double oven!

Removed the door by unscrewing two screws holding it to the springs. Then I placed the door face down on a counter top. I removed the screws from each layer of the door and turned each layer over and laid it beside the door. Took care to support glass so it did not fall out and break. When I got to the layer where the seal was, I removed the old seal and replaced it with the new one. Then, I replaced each layer in reverse order. You have to be careful when replacing the layer that goes over the seal that the seal remains in the right place. It has a tendency to slip out of place, so check it before tightening screws. To place the door back on the spring loaded handles, prop the handles open a ways with screw driver handles. This provides a gap so that the door will slip on easily

I read the online instructions sent in by previous diy'ers. the repairs, esp. the heating element replacement went just as described and went really well. I have used the oven and it works beautifully. Total cost of parts was a little over $60.00. Piece of cake!

We found the youtube video created by partselect.com and followed it. We took the door apart, cleaned the inside, removed the old hinges and replaced them with the new ones. Now the door works perfectly!

Unlike many here, the oven door closed enough to come up to temperature quickly and I could not feel any heat escaping. The oven worked fine but the light stayed on because the door just wasn't snug enough. I watched the great how-to video and ordered the hinges. They arrived in two or three days! I set up a work space, cued up the video again and the new hinges were installed in just a few minutes! But the door would not close enough to turn the light off! I did some more googling around and found the magnet trick! I just happened to have the perfect size magnet from a broken souvenir magnet! and now the light stays off! I stuck the magnet (about the size of a nickel) inside the door opposite the light button. This won't help if you have serious problems with the oven door, but it works if the only problem is the light!

Removed the screws from the back of the oven to remove the damaged element; removed the electrical connectors and reattached to the new element and screwed it back in

We removed the 2 screws at back of oven that hold element on, which took some doing as they were very rusted. We then pulled old element out; this proved a bit difficult because the ends of the old element were stuck in the insulation behind. We had to wiggle the old element back and forth a bit to get it loose from the insulation. Other than that, it was easy.

I watched the youtube video that was provided by this website on my computer while doing this repair step by step. It was a snap!

We watched the video demo & followed it step by step. The project took about 35 minutes and we replaced the hinge on each side of the oven. First we removed the oven from the wall, then dismantled it & cleaned it thoroughly, removed the old hinges and replaced with new ones. the only problem we had was that the pin holding the hinge open was missing on one of the hinges, but we cut a nail and inserted it to hold the hinge open. The job was completed quickly, and the oven door fits and works well. Thanks for the video--it really helped us.

Loosen two screws to remove door. Removed outside trim and other outside screws hold center panel in place. Removed one screw holding hinge in place. Screwed new hinge in place. Re-attached center panel to outside trim and hung door. Easy enough.

My husband removed the old element and replaced it with the new one. I think he used a screw driver to remove and replace. The part shipped and arrive in 5 days. Quick and easy!

Old (broken) knob was gone, so wife oriented new knob over selector shaft, and pushed onto shaft!! PROBLEM FIXED!!!!! No fuss, no mess - just as good as new!

The most difficult part of the repair was removing the two Phillips screws that attached the element to the back wall of the oven. With some WD40, and a hammer to tap on the screws through the screw driver (and several hours) the screws finally came loose. Once the screws were out it was a matter of removing the two wires connected to the element and reconnecting the wires to the new element. After removing the screws this job took less than 5 minutes.
