Light rocker switch broke and refrigerator light couldn't go on.
I just popped out the old switch with a flat head screwdriver. Removed the connections and then installed new switch by reversing steps. Popped in back in and the light went on.

Ice maker grinder motor was not running.
Remove the ice bucket and check that the auger that turns in the ice bucket is free to turn. Cover the open freezer with cardboard or whatever to retain most of the freezer temperature. Remove the holder that supports the top of the motor shaft. Check the splines on the upper part of the motor shaft and also check the seal under the holder. Open the access the door to the motor, remove wiring connector and unbolt the motor. Check the lower splines on motor shaft for condition, clean the shaft and apply new grease to the splines. Before installing, connect the wiring to the new motor, push the door switch in, press the ice dispenser arm outside the door to make sure the motor runs. If all ok, check the motor shaft for fit in the new motor. Be careful not to install the motor shaft too deep in the motor splines, otherwise there may not be enough spline showing on the top end to engage the auger. Bolt the motor in place, close access door and install the holder and ice bucket and make sure everything works. If there is not enough spline showing thru the holder to engage the auger, take pliers and pull the shaft up a bit. This seems to be a hit or miss fit on the shaft but you can adjust the height of the shaft without taking every thing apart again. That's all, not difficult at all. But do check parts and pieces for anything else you might need, parts wise, before ordering the motor by itself like I did. Shipping is high, so try to order any associated parts needed when you order the motor. By the way, This site are great to work with!

Recently replaced solenoid for ice maker / water dispenser. Then had problem with filter staying in place and not continually popping out.
Watched video of similar model repair for filter housing. But the model KitchenAide refrigerator requires enter and replacing housing from the back. My model has a metal facing which has doors attached to it also. It was simple repair though from the backside of the appliance.

Ice maker quit making ice
I took the cover off, and noticed the tabs holding the timer wheel were broken off on one side. after removing the wheel, I noticed the shaft from the ice lifters was broken. Since the only way I could repair it was to buy the entire module, which I did. I received my part in 3 days. When it came, I began removing the old module by taking out the three screws holding it. After replacing the module which took about 10 minutes, my machine was making ice within about an hour. My ice holder was full in 3 days. Albert Moran, Milton, Fl

ice maker quit making ice
I replaced the Electronic control boards because the indicator lights were letting me know that there was a problem, but!!!! when that did not fix the problem, I took the ice maker out and removed the control module from the end of the icemaker only to find out that water had gotten in there and corroded the electronic contacts... this may have been why the indicator lights were not working on the emitter and receiver. I was going to purchase just the module, but the entire ice tray was beginning to de-laminate and plastic was flaking off all over. To make a long story somewhat shorter, I purchased a new icemaker and it works fine... one caution though... My icemaker did not come with any information that told me I had to flip the icemaker to the "on" position from vacation mode by inserting a screwdriver in the back of the module inside of a small white ring. This hole is where the shut off arm WOULD go if my model had one.

Ice was made intermittently, and then no ice at all!
My ice maker about six months ago started to ice make very intermittently and eventually stopped all together. The emiitter no matter what I did was giving me two flashes then a pause, over and over again. I purchased the emitter kit and with a Phillips screwdriver in about five minutes my ice maker kicked the sulinoid on and ice was already started!!! Fast and easy repair!!!

Ice machine Stopped working
After unplugging refrigerator, removed emitter and receiver cover plates on each side of freezer unit (3 screws each) and mounting screws for circuit boards. Unplugged old boards and plugged in new ones and reinstalled boards and then cover plates. Although, indicator code lights seem to still indicate a problem, ice maker has resumed operating after 24 hr.
