Removed and disconnected the icemaker, cleaned all areas and disassembled the failed parts. Reassembled with the new parts inlcuded with the purchased package and resinstalled the unit. Started the unit and chedked for proper operation. Successful repair.

Installed the icemaker control assembly this corrected the problem suspect contacts on the old unit were not making a good contact over time, due to the damp area in the freezer the new unit corrected the repair easy repair.

Ordered and installed new icemaker. Still didn't work. Called repairman who replaced cut-off sensor (expensive service call) Worked briefly, then stopped. Service man said new icemaker was defective. Called PartsSelect and they promptly sent another one (great service). Made ice for 12 hours and then stopped. Did nothing for 36 hours and it suddenly started working again and works fine now. Beats me.

use kitchen knife to pry out. replaced switch assemble and pressed back into place. Could not have done this with out help from previous customers. Thanks

I had to order the module. It was easy to install. If i could have ordered just the gear and shaft, would have been a lot cheaper. Thanks for the addvise. Bill Paisley

Took the front of the ice maker off. Noticed the arm inside was broken, found the part on your site and ordered it.....super fast delivery. Replace the moter assembly and off she went. had ice in about 30 minutes. Thanks for your services and I will highly recommend you to others......Thanks again.

I was amazed when Fed Ex pulled up to our front door the following day after I ordered the parts, I was wondering what they were delivering and to my amazement it was the parts I had ordered from parts select the previous day , thank you so much , you are awesome. My 73 year old husband who is a 5 year cancer survivor had the part installed and we were ready to start making ice within 1 hour.He went by the installation information sent in by your customers. I first turned off the refrigerator. I then used a hair dryer to melt and release the ice by warming the bottom of the mould. Then I turned the fridge back on and let the icemaker discharge the ice. I then turned off the icemaker and ordered the new part. I unplugged the fridge, removed the icemaker (three screws and an electrical connection). Then I replaced the heater/tray with the new one and turned everything back on. Within a couple of hours we began having ice again.

Removing the ice making assembly from the Ice compartment was not difficult except that two of the 3 screws we not visible without a mirror and then my nut driver was 5" long making it very tight quarters, so it was a time consuming process to remove them.
Once the 3 screws were removed the wiring harness was easily disconnected and the whole assembly came out.
The next step was to figure out how to remove the faulty part from the rest of the assembly.
After some strong persuasion the part would not separate from the control Assy. (The front of the unit) To complete the job I had to pull the front cover and unplug the motor and heater assy to expose two additional screws that had to be removed to pull the defective part out. The reassembly went quite easy except the 2 screws that you need a mirror to see. I was also trying to hurry because the frozen items were not holding all that well after the door was open for about an hour and a half. An instruction sheet showing the steps would have cut the time over 1/2!

I played the install video a couple of times to assure myself that it was that easy. The video indicated that I actually had to remove the ice maker it install the motor module but in my case I did not really have to. I simply pulled off the plastic cover plate, removed the 3 phillips head screws and exhanged the new module for the old one. I turned the power and water back on and waited for something to happen...nothing did! After about 15 minutes and no noticeable electric or water flow activity I pulled the refrigerator out away from the wall to check the incoming water line and suddenly I heard water flow to the icemaker and within the next hour I had my 1st batch of cubes. Since then everything appears to be working and we have ice cubes for Christmas. All in all it was a pretty easy and inexpensive fix and probably saved me well over a $100.

The plastic fill cup part is also used to hold one end of the wire “one/off” switch that is manually activated or activated when the ice tray is full. This wire piece fell out because one end, that is part of the plastic fill cup, broke off. The wire switch was fine.

The video demos show you exactly what to do. The repair man showed me a trick to speed up the testing process. The trick is to insert a wire jumper cable to actuate the ice maker and make it rotate. But this isn’t necessary.

Hardest part of this fix is emptying the freezer (bottom with a slide out door) and removing the door.

Why this part is so expensive is beyond me. But I’m happy it was available for a 24yo fridge that still works!!

Unplug fridge, turn off water to fridge
Uninstall ice maker (some tools needed)
Remove ice buildup inside water line

Purchase new ice maker and installed it while watching a youtube video of how to do it. Once installed, turned on the water line and plugged in fridge.

We replaced this part 5 years ago, so we considered ourselves "experienced" at this particular job. We followed the video at your site and after some sticky removal parts, we were able to put the new motor in and finish putting the freezer back in its original shape. After a few worried hours, we again had ice. The video was easy to follow and we couldn't be happier. Thank you for saving us hundreds of dollars.
