Was not making ice; blades @ 12:00
The emitter code: Hold the flap that covers the receiver. (On the left) If the emitter does not stay red, the emitter and receiver are defected.

Replaced the emitter and receiver board

Unplug the refrigerator:

I first removed the ice-maker service door by removing the 2 screws at the top. Next, I removed the 3 screws on the lift side that housed the receiver. It is close, so remove the 1 gold screws on the receiver. This will allow you to separate the switch without any damage. Plug the new receiver in and reverse the process. Put the gold screw in to secure the board. Replace the 3 screws back into the receiver panel.

Remove the 3 screws on the right side. The emitter has 2 gold screws. Remove them so I could separate the switch. Plug the new switch in and replace the 2 gold screws.
Place the 3 screws back into the right side panel.

This process took roughly 30 minutes. After assembly, the ice make was dropping ice in 30 minutes.

There are several large parts places in my area but I saved about $35 by ordering online.
I place my order on Friday morning and the part was in my hands Saturday @ 6: 30 PM the next day.

Repaced the right-side door light switch
Killed the power to the fridge. Then, used a small, thin screwdriver to depress the clip on the bottom of the switch and wriggled the old switch out. The two wires easily came off the contacts with pliers. Connected the wires to the new switch and snapped it into the hole--clip facing down and contacts facing up. Turned the power back on and checked the switch. Worked perfectly! Easy job.

Ice Door Bracket Assemby failed resulting in Ice Door no longer opening and closing
With the freezer door closed, remove 4 screws around the ice maker door assembly. Open the freezer door and remove about a dozen small flat-head screws around the sides of the door that hold the stainless steel cover to the freezer door. No need to remove the very bottom screws if you have something to support the cover with. Remover 4 hex-head screws that hold the ice/water dispenser control pad in place, use tape to secure this pad to the freezer door so you don't have to undue all the electrical connections. Remove two screws that hold the Ice Door Motor & Bracket Assembly in place - disconnect the electrical connection for the assembly. Replace the new assembly in the opposite order it was taken off. Presto - done.

The door switch was broken so the interior light would not come on.
The instructions in the package were not helpful. They wanted me to cut the wiring harness and described where to cut based on the wire colors. My wires were not the same color! I removed the light mechanism using a combination of a screwdriver, putty knife, and plain old muscle with my fingers! The wiring harness unplugged easily and the new one inserted. It was easy to push the whole assembly back into the door. I spent more time looking for something to cut the wiring harness with (and never did find it) than the whole job actually took without needing to cut anything!

No ice
Go first to Kitchenaid web site and download their consumer services Technical diagnostics on the ice maker. Very well written and clear to follow. Instructions step you through interpretation of blinking code lights which is key to finding the real problem and leads you to repair the correct failed part. My diagnosis said to replace both emitter and receiver. I replaced the emitter first and tried it and solved the problem I didn't need to buy the receiver but I have a spare part now. Do the diagnosis and save yourself some money. PartSelect got the parts to me quickly and saved me money compared to our local parts supply companies.
