This website is awesome! It basically tells you exactly what is wrong with your fridge. Our food side of the refrigerator was getting way too cold. Some items actually froze. I looked here and it said the fan/ damper assembly was broken. All I did was remove the part they said was broken and sure enough the little damper door that lets freezer air into the fridge side was broken. I ordered the part, replaced it and presto the refrigerator holds perfect temperature again! The replacement was super easy...only tool needed was a screwdriver and 15minutes! Thanks

Remove the shelves then remove the back by removing the two screws at the top of the panel. Locate the temperature sensor on top of the coil. Cut the wires and replace with the new one. Use wire nuts and electrical tape to reconnect the wires.

I have a GE Profile French door refrig. It's only about 4 yrs old and the defroster stopped working. I read the other repair stories and was able to narrow it down to either the temp sensor, defrost timer, or main board. The refrig section was up to about 47 degrees and freezer was around 25. I could tell it was trying to cool but couldn't. So I tried the temp sensor first. I cut and spliced the new sensor on the outlet of the Evap. Coil and it took about 15 mins. Turned refrig back on and waited. The coil started to ice over after about 5 hrs I left the back panel off so I could see if and when then heater kicked on. After about 8 hrs I looked in and saw a faint glow and water trickling down and running out the drain. Turned out the sensor was bad and wasn't telling the main board it needed to defrost. I would try the sensor if you are having the same issues before spending a lot of money on the main board, defrost heater and or timer.

Replaced all the sensors in both the feezer and refrigerator.Even though it colder now it still is not cold enough.Freezer won't freeze items but is cold and refrigerator still not real cold

remove the Ice tray, remove hex bolts from ice tray hangers on side of freezer. unscrew ice maker and remove it. Remove ice tray auger motor assembaly (4 hex bolts) remove 2 more hex bolts from top of rear inside panel. remove 4 hex bolts from lower panel as well. now with lower section out, you should see the last 2 hex bolts holding on plastic shield (top section rear panel) un screw light cover. Squeeze light fixture and push in. now remove entire top section of panel. All will be exposed. Remove old motor housing, disconnect wires, remove clip from coils. (NEW MOTOR DOES NOT HAVE CLIP OR WIRE FOR COILS)Attatch new motor and replace grommits. Reverse instructions for re installation.

Replaced above parts and the noise problem was not resolved. Ordered a new motor, fan blade and another set of grommets from PartSelect. The parts were delivered the next day. Took me about 15 minutes to swap the new parts in. It's been 3 days since the repair and the noise has not returned.

I tried the sensor first since it cost a lot less and that did not fix my problem. The removal and installation basically the same as video on my model with the exception of where it is. Mine was on the side wall under a small grill that pops off with a slight downward /outward pressure using a small common screwdriver and then just splice in new sensor. The Air inlet cover /dampener did fix the problem. This again was really straight forward and like other post comes out fairly easy. Remove the top 2 shelves and the light cover. It is held on by 4 screws two on the back wall under the vent like cover that pops off. The top of it snaps into the air grill and once off remove two screws and disconnect the electrical connector. The other two screws are on rear of light assy. Then remove the water filter cover by squeezing sides in and put outward. Now the air inlet can be removed . Installation is just reverse.

Little difficult getting the switch out, had to pry wth some force. New installation was real easy.

I stated this repair to a bit difficult because it is awkward to work on with your head cocked backwards to see while having to lean inside the frig but really its an easy part to replace. The cold air damper was broken where the metal shaft of the electric actuator motor inserts into the hinge side of the damper and allowing the freezer air to over cool the frig. The damper is made of plastic and looks like a small door. I super glued the damper once but the repair only lasted 45-60 days. You would have to take the old part completly apart to see the motor and damper so I would not do this unless you are like me and want to know how things tick. To insatll the new part you need to remove the top 2 shelfs, then remove the lighting section with a phillips screwdriver and let the light fixture hang from the wires. The tricky part is to use a thin flat screwdriver to pry at the seam of the plastic cover at the bottom of the air duct. You cannot see the mounting attachments but behind the air duct cover there are vertical slots that slide and mount onto screws fixed to the back wall of the compartment. If you are not careful the cover can be broken where the slots slide over the mounting screws. The rest of it is pretty much as the instructions decribe. I installed the new part as is with only one cold air opening eventhough there were 3 cold air openings in the old part which the instruction do not address. The extra openings are probably meant for faster recovery once the frig door shuts yet the frige seems to work fine now after a week of operation so I would assume the other openings are not necessary. The new fan motor made a high pitch whining noise so I took the new part out again and replaced the fan motor with the old one which took care of the noise problem. If you do this be careful not to install the old fan motor in backwards or the air will blow in the wrong direction! Other than that the new part fit and works great! Good luck with your repair. -d

luckly i have a bit of experience in refrigeration im an hvac technician by trade. this repair was a bit tricky in that i did not know at first if it was a Temperature Sensor issue or the main control board. I had tested the defrost termination thermostat and the defrost heater and as i suspected they were ok. Next i wanted to test the thermistors (temp sensors) it is hard to find technical data on these fridges. I needed to test the thermistors resistance @ a certian temperature to ensure they were working properly but where do u get such data? I also wanted to know some information about the logic programmed into the board (i.e when do you initiate defrost etc. . .). I had no such luck so i figured since i tested the defrost heater and thermostat and they were ok and all of the evap fans and such were working i'd order a circuit board and new thermistors. Got the CORRECT PARTS from this site in 2 business days and my fridge is working great! changing the parts was really easy, figuring out which parts to change was the only difficult thing about this job.

I removed the light and cover, then removed the lower vent cover. This required a bit of pinching and pulling. Then I removed the Fresh Food Air Inlet Cover. I looked inside and saw that the flap/dampener was unseated and flopping around. That would explain why all the cold air was coming in from my freezer and freezing the food in my fridge. Replaced old with new, plugged in, reinstalled all covers, and Voila! My fridge is working correctly again. Thanks to the first review which was the one I followed. And Thanks to PartsSelect!

Ordered part that website recommended. When I received part it was for a lefthand refrigerator, I have a righthand frig. I determined that it was the servo operated door that was broken and so I had to completely disassemble the part that I received, which meant removing the servo door off of the motor and installing it on the old servo door assembly. So make sure you order the correct directional part, which sometimes is not spelled out on website.

Followed the repair video, was spot on!!

It was pretty straight forward. Be very careful removing the top panel above the light, it slides forward about a half inch. Be gentle, the plastic tabs can be easily broken and then the top piece will sag and fall off easily. Everything else was screwed into place and pretty easy to take apart and put back together.
