TFG25PADAWW General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

I read the details and bought the pair, as directed from other bloggers. I got the hinge piece, followed others advice and had it all done in not time! Saved a lot of money and will use this website again!

After reading other posted comments,I ordered a new hinge assembly set ps290199. My helper and I removed the door and laid it on the kitchen table. While he replaced the hinge on the refigator,I replaced the cam on the door bottom. We re-hung the door and completed the job in 15 minutes with the door closing like it did when new.

Followed other messages to complete fix. Simple overall.

Please note that if you buy the hinge assembly, you get spacer parts that mate. If you don't you have to hack-saw the rivot off the old hinge assembly to do your repair. Hinge assembly cost more but less work.

Removed food and trays from door. This took longer than the actual repair. Removed top hinge cover (1 phillips screw) and top hinge (2ea 5/16" hex bolts). Removed door, replaced hinge assembly on refrigerator (2ea 5/16" hex bolts)which included a new hinge cam (they don't tell you this, but the cam is included in the assembly so you don't need to order a seperate cam) I now have a spare cam. Piece of cake...your mom could do it!!

Same as the others, just propped the door up and took off the upper and lower hinge parts and replaced them. One note: the old hinge was so torn up that some of the shims were partially destroyed. Since I didn't order the shims, I had to do a little machining. It might be a good idea to order shims if there is ant doubt.
P.S. With normal shipping, the order arrived in 2 days!

I snapped it in place. It look 5 seconds.

Emptied contents from the door. Removed top hinge cover (one screw) and top hinge (two bolts.) Lifted door off and replaced broken cam riser on bottom hinge. Put door back on.

After watching your instruction video and not wanting to shut down refrigerator and remove foods from door, I elected to lift the door and place blocking under it.The actual hinge replacement took approximately 10 mins. I would also like to say that I am extremely satisfied with PartSelects handling of my order and your promptness resending my order because of my goof-up with my own address. Turned refrigerator off. Removed food from right hand (refig.) door. Closed door. Removed upper hinge cover with a standard Phillips screwdriver and then removed upper hinge by removing two 5/16" bolts using nutdriver. Lifted door up to clear the bottom hinge-post and set it on the table. Removed the kick pan at the bottom of the refrigerator and then removed the bottom hinge-post which was attached with two more 5/16" bolts. Installed new lower hinge post and rubbed a small amount of mineral oil on the closing cam (which is riveted to the hinge-post). Removed the old upper closing cam from the door (5/16" bolts) while it as lying horizontal on the table and installed new cam lubricated with a small amount of mineral oil. dropped the door in place, replaced upper hinge and cover. Replaced kick pan. Done.

I simply followed the excellent video, once I discovered the lower door hinge was the problem. Part Select was amazing! A $25 part and 15 minutes saved me $1,200+ ... the price of a replacement refridgerator. Thank you!

I watched the video on your web site first.Then I proceeded to do the repair exactly as the video showed. Very easy!!!!!

they sell the cam piece but the instructions says not to replace only one part. so beware you need both the cam and hinge as a kit .

Just remove all items in door shelves, remove screw holding top hinge cover on. Remove two bolts holding top hinge and remove hinge from door. Carefully open door and lift out of bottom hinge. Remove screw holding bottom hinge on door and replace broking cam riser. Reinstall door in reverse order and adjust top hinge where both doors are even across the top. Thats it!!!!!
