MGR6772BDW Maytag Range - Instructions

Our oven quit working again. I called the repair(dealer) man and he said we needed a new control panel. It would cost $180.00 and labor would be $60. The total repair would be $240.00. We considered just purchasing a new one. It is a slide-in range and they start at about $1500. So I began looking for a control panel on line. I found your web site and entered what was wrong with the oven. Your site suggested we try replacing the oven sensor. There was a video that showed how simple the repair was. We ordered the part. It came quickly and I immediately made the repair (about 10 min). I was very disappointed that it did not work. I went back to you web site and tried the next option. It was a terminal block for only $20.00. I didn't even know what a terminal block was, what it looked like or where on the range to find it. But I went again to your video and I learned quickly what to do. I ordered the part and it came in two days. I made the repair in about 15 min. My wife was very happy that the repair worked. Our total cost was about $80. The $240 quote would not have fixed the oven anyway. The repairman was wrong. I was very happy with the results and the money we saved.. Good Job PartSelect and thanks.

Control panel was responsive however oven would not heat up. I Replaced sensor with one of the adapters and oven is now working again.

I slide the oven out from the counter and unpluged it. I removed all the oven racks. I then removed the machine screws that held the sheet metal that covered the back of the unit. This made it a lot easier to disconnect the long oven sensor wire and put the wire through the insulation. I removed the two screws on the inside of the oven that held the sensor onto the inside rear wall of the oven. The old sensor did not test too bad but the temperature is reaching the set temperature. I still had to adjust the oven temp up ten degrees using the control panel. I have learned that it takes a few cycles of the element going off and on during the warming to reach the desired set temperature. One more issue is that the buzzer goes off signaling that the set temperature has been reached when it has not. When I set it for 350 F the buzzerr goes off at 280 F and I have a good oven thermometer. I own three oven thermometers and they all read the same. We use to have nothing but Maytag appliances but no more. We have had issues with Maytag front loading washers and ranges. PartSelect is great. Good prices and fast delivery.

unscrewed screws in the back of the stove. inside the stove, replaced the old bake igniter with the new one and connected the electrical wire in the back of the stove.

Removed frame to cabinet lag screws
Slid oven out of cabinet (required because wire harness could not be pulled through inside of oven)
Removed two screws holding attaching sensor inside oven
Uncoupled wire harness
Installed new sensor in reverse order

Unfortunately, neither the new bake element or sensor fixed the problem, so I just ordered the more expensive control board -- hope that does it.

I took out the old and replaced with the new. The hardest part was getting that tiny halogen bulb in that tiny little hole. It took longer to take the oven racks out and put them back in than to make the repairs.

Installed new thermostat. Went well. Now the oven comes on and it takes 2.5 hours to come up to 250 degrees. Help!

The trickiest part was locating the elusive spark module. I am not certain I took the best route, but not considering all the wrong routes in trial and error, it was the most expedient. Certainly there must have been a single something to remove to get to this frequently faulted part..

Anyhow, thanks to the great part, the stove works really well again.

Disconnected power pulled oven from wall, removed 8 screws from back, unplugged sensor, removed old, attached new, put screws back wow saved me $500. From buying new and $150. For service call

Watching the video of how to replace the sensor was great help and much appreciated, the only difference was that my wires were much shorter and I had to pull the oven out of the cabinet to get to the back of the oven to release the clip holding the wires together, unlike the video where the man jiggled the wires until the clip holding the wires together came through the little slot where the probe is attached, otherwise it was pretty simple, just a few extra steps to pull the oven forward to get to the rear to release the clip holding the wires together. Once I was able to release the clip I used one of the 2 adapters that was sent with the sensor probe and attached them after putting the wires through the hole where the probe was attached first then replaced the 2 screws that holds the sensor in place, slid the oven back in and turned the circuit breaker back on and it works perfectly. The video gave me the confidence to do this job though and I thank PartSelect very much for being a great company to help with videos and sending the parts so quickly.

The lower oven would not heat up, the temperature stayed at 100. I'm pretty sure the same instructions apply for the upper oven. This is a pretty straightforward repair with a couple of minor bear traps. 1) Remove the oven door by simply lifting it up off the hinges. Not absolutely necessary, but helpful to get your head inside the oven. Not a bad idea to vacuum out the oven floor at this stage. 2) Remove the two Philips head screws at the front of the burner pan cover - the screws are at the very bottom inside the oven. 3) The pan cover lifts straight out of the oven, set it to the side. 4) Remove the burner cover held down by either one or two wing nuts - my oven only had one wing nut from the factory - nice job Maytag on your quality control!! 5) Loosen the screw holding down the burner cover in the far back right corner. This cover is a steel rectangular box that is a shield for the burner gas / air connection. Turn the box around to expose the burner end. 6) Remove the two screws that hold down the burner assembly. One screw is at the very front of the oven. The other screw is on the left side of the burner at the rear. Do NOT remove the pan held down by 6 or more screws. On my oven, the left rear screw was stripped. It stripped in a very weird way that took a long time to remove it. The threads inside the metal were fine, but the threads that had been exposed to heat were brittle and fell off. That meant the screw backed out about 3/4 of the way and then kept turning. This is where pliers come in handy. It will take some pulling up and turning with pliers to get those stripped screws out. I didn't want to cut off the screw because the cut out part would fall back into the lower pan. 7) Pull the oven out from the wall and unplug it from the electicity. Remove the 3 screws holding the left rear metal panel in place. There are two screws along the far left side and one down lower on the right. The panel is connected to the one next to it with tabs. 8) Unplug the ignitor. There is a white fireproof wire that comes up from the bottom of the oven that plugs into a white automotive style clip connector. Push the tab to release the clip and unplug the wire. 9) Wrap some stray wire or string around the plug to use as a pull wire when reassembling the oven. 10) Go back to the front of the oven and lift out the burner, be careful not wo pull your pull wire all the way out of the oven. Untie the pull wire. 11) Remove the two philips head screws that hold the ignitor to the burner bracket. 12) Reassemble! Attach the new ignitor with the two screws. 13) Push the wire into the lower part of the oven. 14) Go to the back of the oven and pull the wire through the oven wall. 15) Drop the burner in, making sure it mates up with the gas tube in the back right. 16) Flip the rectangular burner shield back and tighten it down. 16) Replace the two screws that hold down the burner tube, front and rear. 17) Replace the burner shield with the wing nut(s). 18) Replace the burner cover, or floor of the oven. 19) Go to the back of the oven, plug in the ignitor wire. 20) Replace the rear panel cover and secure it with the three screws. JOB FINISHED! Plug in the stove and push it back. The oven takes a few minutes to start heating, you should be able to see orange glow around the slots in the floor of the oven.

took off the back removed the burner top installed the switches and put it all back together Im a retired electrician not so sure the average guy could do this

The range in my classroom had the leveling legs broke off by the summer staff. I ordered two new leveling legs and the night custodian replaced them in about 45 minutes and them leveled the stove. Parts were just as stated and easy to order.
