S101 Jenn-Air Range - Instructions

My husband and I couldn't believe we were able to do this!!!So easy! We were dancing around the kitchen!!!!! We credit the advice of other do-it-yourselfers. Very accurate and true. It took less than 10 minutes after the screws were WD40'd. In addition, we recommend: use a flashlight to see in the oven since it's dark with the power cut off , and use this time to clean behind the stove!!!!!

removed screws, unplugged switch, plugged in new switch, replaced screws.

The door came off easily after I removed the two hinge covers that are attached to the oven. Taking the door off can be done with one person but ideally two.

The new parts fit in perfectly and the hinge pin used for shipping comes out easiest with a pair or wire cutters (you do not cut it just grab it and pull).

After that, re-assemble the door and drop in place. It was a snap.

FYI...the shipping was ultra fast and the price was great.

No issues whatsover with the entire process.

The hardest part was taking out original light bulb because screws on shield where hard to unscrew after all this years . The old bulb vent out leaving neck in socket. It took narrow electrical pliers to get neck out .The generic appliance bulb did not fit and had aluminum neck ,not recommended for brass sockets in ovens.Putting new light bulb in was not the problem.

Trouble shooting: rocker switch "blew-up", fire flew when wife opened oven door. Assumed rocker switch was burned due to melted plastic and a terminal blew off. Down draft fan would not run. Put stove breaker in off position. Search on internet located "part select". Entered model number and discription. Picture of switch and simple diagram appeared on screen with part #. I ordered part, it was here 2 days later. Eating home cooked meals now. Bragging about repairing my stove, repair savings of about $150. 00.

AFTER turning off the power supply to the range/cooktop, remove 2 screws holding element in place then remove two slip electrical connectors, and remove element. Reverse procedure for installation of replacement.

Removed old element by removing screws from plate and removing old wires. Had to get conversion from electric store as new element was screw in and the old one was hard wired. Stripped old wires and placed on converters. Screwed the electric converter parts to the element. Screwed into oven wall.

The replacement part received had the exact electrical and mechanical interfaces as the original element so installation was simple.

The element is held in by two screws located at the rear of the oven. After killing the power, I unscrewed the two screws (one was stripped so I used a pliers to remove it) and replaced them with 2 new screws. Total time was about 20 minutes. Easy fix!

Removed the element and did a continuity check, the element was bad. The stove is over 25 yrs. old. Went to a local shop who usually are very good in situations like this. They could not find the part. Went on line to Part Select, found the part and verified with a phone call. Ordered and received the part the next morning and fixed the stove.

Took out the old and put in the new. Just that easy. Took less than 15 minutes.

Removed 2 screws from back of oven. Pulled element away from the back,disconnected the 2 wires. Recieved new part in 2 days and installed in reverse order.
