RK966G*03 Hotpoint Range - Instructions

Looked up mfg. and part #,looked at blow up of stove on parts select, identified element. The part came overnite. Shut down power, removed 2 screws with a nut driver, pulled element foreward to reveal 2 screws attaching wires. Replaced in reverse order, turned on power, back in service. 10 minutes tops.

It is simple.

Cut off the power. Remove racks. Remove burned out element and replace with new one.

Replace racks and turn on the power. Set the clock.

I've done this about 5 times and now keep a spare element.

Removed access screws from bake element cover, removed screws retaining wire connections on bake element, reverse procedure, and heat to burn off contaminants.

Took out the old (removed 2 screws holding the element to the back of the oven, disconnected the 2 screws attaching the electrical wires to the element). Decided to clean the oven with EasyOff. It took longer to spray this on, and then later wipe it up, than the repair itself. Reversed the procedure for the new element. A very simple repair - my wife is amazed!

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires on the element. Put in the new element and reconnected the wires. Pushed the wires and element back into place and screwed in the screws that hold the element in place.

Ordered the part on a Friday afternoon and was shocked to receive the box on Saturday AM! Turned off the power to the unit, unscrewed the screws holding in the old element, and hooked up the new one. We didn't have a socket wrench so we subbed a pliers. So easy & cheap! Seems like everything's breaking around this house & this is the ONLY thing that was easy & cost less than $20! Happy with Parts Select!

Element went out on Wednesday; ordered part on Thursday; it arrived on Saturday (via regular service). Took out old part with hex screw drived, installed new and back in business.

Getting the part out was easy. Turned the power off (of course) first. The outside nuts were corroded, so had to use a pair of pliers to get them off. The inside connectors were easier to get off. I had a little trouble getting the connectors on the wires. The metal part on the heating element kept wanting to bend. I finally had someone hold that in place while I made the connections. The outside screws were easy to put on. The oven now works great. I think the element was failing over a period of time, and we just didn't notice. I can't remember the last time I actually saw the element get RED hot. Works great. Thanks for your quick service and reasonable prices. Will definitely use you again, when I need parts like this. unscrewed the broken one and replaced it with the new heating element. Worked perfectly! 20+ year old oven.

Unscrewed old element and screwed in the new one.

Removed two small bolt screws that held the bottom burner in place. Unscrew the two small screws that attach the oven wiring to the bottom burner. Put the bottom burner back in place and screw the two small bolt screws back in and its done.

Turned off electricity at fuse box. Unscrewed old element and removed. Put in new element, screwed it in. Turned on electricity. Voila.

Removed 4 screws and removed the old element and replaced in the reverse order.

Used nut driver to remove old element and screw driver to remove power leads. Reversed process to install new element. Took about 5 minutes.

I have to admit that I tried to remove the element myself but I did not have the right tool for the last two screws. If I did it would have been very easy. I ordered the part and had someone else put it in so I cheated.
