Mixer would slip gears under load, finally would not mix under any load
Rather than duplicate previous repair works, I recommend going to this user site and follow their instructions: http://www.neilcrockett.com/mixer1.htm. Once you have done this repair, taking the unit apart is easier to perform this tasks. Order replacement Grease "Benalene 930-2" in the 3.3 oz container and be sure to use the full container to lather all around all the gear components so grease will be available to units for years to come due to heat build up under load. Too, the 3.5 oz container is made for one unit repair job and is available through Amazon. This grease is available on larger quantities if needed / desired. I did order both, a Worm Gear and the Worm Gear and Bracket as I wasn't sure of my mechanical ability to make this repair until I got inside the unit but the worm gear is easily replaced once you clean out all the old grease. The worm gear is a neoprene type gear with all other gears being metal. I assume neoprene is used as sacrificial to save other gears from breaking under loads and years of use.

i disassembled the mixer until i could remove the worm gear; is in a housing that that includes another gear and shaft. make sure you have a magnetic tray to put parts in as you work or you will spend more time looking for parts than reassembling the mixer. once you have the gear housing out you will need a small diameter punch to drive out the pin that holds the gears in the housing(i used a 5/32 transfer punch.) make sure you punch the pin out where it will be caught or you will need to order that part because you will not find it. after knocking the pin out it is just a matter of removing the old gear, putting the new one in, and reversing the steps and getting everything reassembled.

stripped nylon drive gear
Followed the repair instructions from the manual. ...

I did notice that the replacement part had an extension on it that allowed for the gear grease to be "pulled up" onto the drive gear ( the one that broke), while the unit is running. This feature was not on the original part, but was obviously an upgrade design which was added after my particular mixer was made. I think that the extension on the bracket will help prevent the new nylon gear from binding and stripping as we use the mixer from now on.

I'm glad that PartSelect had the more modern part on hand, and not just an "overstock" from the original, inferior design.

Damaged gears in both machines. Been setting around for a few years broken. Gears broke way too soon.
Simply removed damaged gears. Very simple to do. Ordered gears. Replaced gears. Both working well ( so far. ) Machines are easy to dismantle. Just be sure to put the screws back in the holes you took them out of when dismantling...no lost screws. On the smaller model, took pictures of the wire positions to be sure they were replaced in the proper order. Larger model had no wires to remove.

The mixer broke the worm gear(the only plastic gear inside the mixer) and needed replaced.
I took apart the mixer housing and removed all the screws. The most difficult part was the two pins that needed to be removed with a metal punch. They were in fairly tight. The mixer came apart pretty easily and it was obvious which part needed to be replaced as it was broken and missing teeth. After replacing the gear and applying new grease for smooth operation, I simply put it back together and it has worked like new ever since.

The original screw cap would not hold the mixer bowl in place anymore.
The new part was too large for the replacement job, but we used the self tapping screws that came with the mixer and screwed them in from the bottom to open the holes a little more since the original screws were to short to hold the new plate. Then we replaced the screws with longer screws and that seemed to do the trick!

Bowl lock wouldn't hold when mixing bread
Repair is very straight forward. Remove the existing plate by removing the three phillip head screws. Use a regular screwdriver or knife to pop the plate off. (I cleaned the area while I was there but probably not necessary) Position the new plate with the screw holes lined up. Press down to pop the plate into position. Install original screws and tighten. You're done!
